As a Patient Safety Associate, you will be working primarily in the Emergency Department but can be utilized throughout the hospital. Located in Fallon, Nev., Banner Churchill Community Hospital is a 25-bed licensed hospital offering the most comprehensive array of medical services in rural northern Nevada. We provide comprehensive and emergency care, including an ambulance service that covers more than 5,900 square miles. This makes us one of only two hospital-operated paramedic/EMT/EMS providers in northern Nevada. Our location in Fallon - a short drive from both Reno and Lake Tahoe - offers a wealth of lifestyle advantages, including rustic, rural charm, along with a recreational wonderland of outdoor sports, such as boating, fishing, hiking, biking, skiing, hunting, horseback riding and off-roading.

POSITION SUMMARY
This position provides oversight to a patient or a group of patients. This position is responsible to communicate with the Registered Nurse (RN) upon arrival, departure and as appropriate throughout the shift. The RN will provide instruction to this position as to the expectations and any pertinent patient information. Will ensure the environment is safe and secure at all times. Is aware of the patient’s code status and pertinent restrictions and report any issues or concerns to the RN.

CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Follows a plan communicated by the RN when providing support services to patients.

2. Communicates the services provided to the patient with the supervisor/Registered Nurse.

3. Communicates changes in the patient’s condition, environment or situation to the RN.

4. May practice de-escalation techniques and intervene early with approved diversional activities

5. This position is accountable to provide observation, diversion, and communication to ensure a safe environment. The position is responsible for providing excellent customer service to a variety of internal and external customers.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge. BLS certification is required within 30 days of start date. Mandatory safety, hazardous materials, and infection control in-services will be included in orientation and required on a periodic basis.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
