Full Job Description

The Back of House Director of Operations is responsible for overseeing and optimizing all back of house operations within the organization to ensure efficiency, compliance, and operational excellence. Reporting directly to both the COO and President, they will be responsible for the leadership and strategic direction for kitchen operations, food safety, inventory management, purchasing, facilities maintenance, and workforce management while supporting overall company goals and objectives.

Reports to: COO + President

Compensation: $95,000-$105,000 with potential incentives and bonuses based on profitability and financial performance

Day To Day:

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Participates in the hiring and training of various levels of kitchen management
Organizes and oversees the work and schedules from hourly to executive management levels

Duties/Responsibilities:

Develop and enforce BOH operational policies and procedures
Implement policies and procedures that will improve day-to-day operations
Ensures work environments are adequate and safe
Controls and monitors budgets and cost of sales in each division to achieve financial objectives
Communicates and explains new company directives, policies, or procedures to BOH managers
Leads coordination and integration of efforts among BOH and FOH operations to produce smoother workflow and more cost-effective business processes
Projects a positive image of the organization to employees, customers, industry, and community

Operational Execution:

Supervise maintenance management to ensure all operational systems and facilities are maintained and functioning properly
Develop and enforce labor management strategies with supervisors to optimize staffing levels, control labor costs, and maintain service standards
Ensure kitchens comply with all safety and sanitation regulations
Walk-throughs to identify opportunities – we are never satisfied; there is always room to grow
Accurately execute MHG initiatives and policies to improve quality, service, and operations
Works directly with Culinary Director on menus and food cost implementations
Execute and plan outside events in coordination with the marketing and operations teams

o Five plus years in a corporate structured environment

o Strong analytical food-costing, labor management, and preventative maintenance skills
