Description & Details:
Entering the 2nd year of a 5-year grant cycle, this TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) position supports students by providing proactive guidance, study skills instruction, and project programming focused on academic, professional, and personal growth. Based on our shared SAIE values, this position is committed to service, teamwork, and belonging.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Advocate and support the development of SSS participants academically and professionally.
- Maintain a caseload of assigned students.
- Advise and refer participants to other professionals concerning academic, personal, and career matters as appropriate.
- Interpret college financing to students: FAFSA, private student loans, grants, waivers, scholarships.
- Track / monitor the progress of participants and assist with record keeping in approved software.
- Communicate effectively with students and stakeholders.
- Organize and run grant-approved activities (like FAFSA workshops) to meet SSS participants’ professional, academic, and social needs.
- Teach a 1-credit SSS Study Skills course each semester.
- Support the supervision of student workers (peer mentors).
- Participate in student recruitment activities, professional development opportunities, and campus outreach.
Work Schedule:
- Monday through Friday 8AM-5PM, 7:30AM-4PM during breaks and summer.
- Rare weekend or evening hours may be required during academic year.
Hiring Range:
$44,000 -$50,000 Pay is based on relevant experience, education, skills, and other considerations.
Pay is based on several factors, including budget, labor market, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and/or certification and other business considerations.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree
1+ years of teaching, advising, or mentoring.
Experience coordinating events, programs, or group activities.
Ability to use Microsoft Office.
Strong communication skills.
Knowledge of essential skills needed for academic success.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s Degree
Experience working in higher education.
Holistic student development experience.
