Full Job Description

Title: General Event Cleaner

Starting Wage: $17.00 per hour

Department: Housekeeping / Operations

Position Reports To: Cleaning Manager

Status: Part-Time / Event Staff

Exempt: Non-Exempt (Hourly)

I. General Summary

The General Event Cleaner plays an important role in providing a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for all guests, staff, and event participants at SCHEELS Arena. This position is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the facility before, during, and after hockey games, concerts, trade shows, and other special events.

As part of the Housekeeping team, Event Cleaners help create a positive guest experience by ensuring the arena remains clean, stocked, and event-ready at all times.

II. Position Summary

The Event Cleaner is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for guests before, during, and after events. This position plays a key role in ensuring SCHEELS Arena is event-ready by performing routine cleaning tasks throughout the facility and responding quickly to cleaning needs during live events.

Event Cleaners work as part of a team to maintain public areas, restrooms, seating sections, concourses, suites, and other event spaces. The ideal candidate is dependable, motivated, detail-oriented, and enjoys working in a fast-paced environment.

III. Principal Duties & Responsibilities

Facility Cleaning

· Sweep, mop, vacuum, and clean assigned areas throughout the arena.

· Empty trash receptacles and replace liners.

· Clean and sanitize restrooms throughout events and after events.

· Wipe down tables, railings, counters, doors, glass, and other high-touch surfaces.

· Clean seating sections, concourses, stairways, suites, locker rooms, and public areas.

· Pick up debris and maintain cleanliness throughout the event.

· Complete post-event cleaning to prepare the facility for the next event.

· Follow all cleaning procedures and safety guidelines.

Event Support

· Monitor assigned areas during hockey games, concerts, and special events.

· Respond quickly to spills, trash overflow, and other cleaning needs.

· Assist with event pre clean and post clean when needed.

· Complete additional housekeeping duties assigned by supervisors.

Equipment & Safety

· Safely operate cleaning equipment including vacuums, floor scrubbers, buffers, mops, and other custodial equipment.

· Properly handle and store cleaning chemicals according to OSHA and company safety standards.

· Report damaged equipment, maintenance concerns, or safety hazards immediately.

IV. Schedule & Working Conditions

This is a part-time, event-based position with scheduling based on the SCHEELS Arena event calendar.

· Employees provide their availability, and schedules are created based on business needs and employee availability.

· Additional open shifts may become available, and employees are encouraged to pick up extra shifts when available.

· Required event shifts are 6:00 PM–2:00 AM Thursday- Saturday, with occasional weekday evening shifts as depending on event schedule.

· Hours increase during hockey season, concerts, and other large events.

· Evening, weekend, holiday, and occasional overnight availability is required.

· This is an active position requiring standing, walking, bending, lifting, pushing, and pulling throughout the shift.

· Ability to work both independently and as part of a team is essential.

V. Qualifications

Education

· High School Diploma or G.E.D. preferred, but not required.

Preferred Qualifications

· Previous custodial, housekeeping, janitorial, or facility maintenance experience is helpful but not required.

· We are willing to train dependable individuals with a strong work ethic and a willingness to learn.

VI. Physical Requirements

· Must be at least 16 years of age.

· Must successfully pass a pre-employment background check.

· Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.

· Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.

· Frequent bending, kneeling, reaching, and climbing stairs.

· Ability to work in indoor and occasional outdoor conditions.

· Reliable transportation is preferred.

VII. Essential Functions

· Maintain cleanliness throughout SCHEELS Arena before, during, and after events.

· Clean restrooms, seating areas, concourses, suites, and public spaces.

· Empty trash and recycling containers.

· Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and sanitize assigned areas.

· Respond promptly to spills and cleaning requests.

· Follow all safety procedures and company cleaning standards.

· Represent SCHEELS Arena with professionalism and a positive attitude.
