Full Job Description

Valley Professional Search is partnering with a stable, growing Fargo-area organization seeking an experienced Operations Accountant to join its accounting team. This is not a transactional accounting position. We're looking for someone with a deep understanding of accounting fundamentals (specifically credits and debits) and the ability to clearly explain why transactions are recorded the way they are. A strong grasp of the complete accounting cycle and how transactions flow through the general ledger into the financial statements is essential for success in this role.

If you enjoy analyzing financial data, improving processes, and partnering with operations to support sound business decisions, this could be an excellent fit. You'll work alongside an experienced accounting team in a collaborative environment where critical thinking and technical accounting knowledge are valued.

What You'll Do

Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and support month-end close.
Manage inventory, fixed asset, and operational accounting activities.
Maintain accurate financial records and assist with annual audit processes.
Analyze financial and operational data to identify trends and ensure accuracy.
Partner with operations and other departments to improve accounting processes and reporting.
Identify opportunities to streamline workflows through technology and automation.
Assist with special accounting projects and continuous process improvement initiatives.

What We're Looking For

3-5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
A deep understanding of accounting fundamentals, including credits and debits.
The ability to confidently explain the flow of accounting transactions through the general ledger and how those transactions ultimately impact the balance sheet, income statement, and other financial statements.
Experience preparing journal entries, reconciliations, and participating in month-end close.
Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining exceptional accuracy.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting preferred.
ERP experience is a plus.
