Job Summary

The purpose of this position is to provide administrative support services to a supervisor and/or director and the staff members in the education department. This is a full-time (12 month) position with MSA.

Job duties include:

Provide assistance and direction in a variety of office tasks to ensure efficiency, communication, and productivity in the department.
Update and utilize student information systems, other databases, and/or documentation systems with current information following direction from supervisors/directors.
Responsible for student and staff attendance on the MSAD campus - receives calls in the morning and ensures sub-coverage; communication with transportation companies and Faribault Public Schools, communication between related services and interpreters as needed.
Responsible for daily attendance of all absences, informs substitute teacher or paraprofessional regarding changes, and transmits lesson plans and instructional materials.
Responsible for serving as a notetaker in meetings.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) at the required level (as measured by SLPI evaluation).
Experience in office administration, including handling phone calls, emails, and communication with various stakeholders as well as strong communication skills to interact with students, families, interagency partners, and staff.
Knowledge of student information systems and databases.
Strong organizational skills to maintain calendars, schedules, and office records.
Experience in creating/distributing professional-level communication via multiple platforms.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with Deaf, Hard-of-Hearing, and Deaf/Blind individuals in an educational setting.
Experience in processing off-campus activity requests and coordinating logistics with multiple departments.
Experience preparing and distributing mass communication announcements (e.g., daily announcements, newsletters).
Background in organizing and participating in school events, such as orientations, graduations, and field trips.

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (with assistance) and to be able to sit, stand and walk throughout a workday.
