Full Job Description

Dually Licensed SUD Counselor / Mental Health Therapist

Midwest Recovery is seeking a Dually Licensed Substance Use Disorder Counselor and Mental Health Therapist to provide weekend clinical coverage at our MN 245G / ASAM Level 3.1 residential substance use disorder treatment program in Faribault, MN.

This position provides substance use disorder counseling and mental health therapy services to clients with co-occurring needs in a structured, trauma-informed residential setting.

Schedule: Weekend coverage only, with possible evening responsibilities as needed

Pay:

Responsibilities

· Provide individual, group, and therapy services within scope of licensure and assigned responsibilities.

· Support clients with co-occurring substance use and mental health needs.

· Complete or assist with assessments, treatment plans, treatment plan reviews, progress notes, and discharge planning as assigned.

· Deliver ASAM Level 3.1/3.5 programming, including relapse prevention, coping skills, recovery support, emotional regulation, life skills, and mental health symptom management.

· Provide weekend clinical coverage to support client care, programming, and continuity of services.

· Maintain timely and compliant documentation according to MN 245G, HIPAA, agency policy, licensure standards, and payer requirements.

· Monitor client progress and communicate concerns to the Treatment Director, Clinical Supervisor, or treatment team.

· Support crisis intervention, de-escalation, safety planning, referrals, and care coordination as needed.

· Maintain professional boundaries and follow all agency policies, client rights requirements, confidentiality rules, mandatory reporting requirements, and ethical standards.

· Participate in required orientation, 245G training, annual training, supervision, and staff meetings as required.

Degree of Authority

· Provide substance use disorder counseling and mental health therapy services within the scope of licensure, credentialing, training, and assigned job responsibilities.

· Complete and sign clinical documentation only for services the employee is qualified and authorized to provide.

· Make clinical recommendations regarding client treatment, care coordination, discharge planning, and referrals within the scope of licensure.

· Follow the direction of the Treatment Director, Clinical Supervisor, Alcohol and Drug Counselor Supervisor, and designated leadership team.

· Maintain compliance with Minnesota 245G requirements, professional ethics, confidentiality standards, and agency policies.

· May not provide services requiring professional licensure without the appropriate Minnesota license, permit, or approved qualification.

· May not authorize services, alter agency policy, or act outside assigned clinical responsibilities.

Qualifications

· Must meet applicable MN 245G counselor qualifications.

· Active Minnesota LADC license or eligibility preferred.

· Active Minnesota mental health professional license or eligible licensure preferred, such as LPCC, LICSW, LMFT, LP, or other applicable license.

· Dual licensure or credentialing in both SUD counseling and mental health therapy strongly preferred.

· Experience working with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health needs preferred.

· Residential treatment, ASAM Level 3.1/3.5, crisis intervention, and group facilitation experience preferred.

· Must complete required 245G orientation, annual training, co-occurring disorder training, and all agency-required trainings.

· Must pass a Minnesota Department of Human Services background study.

· Must meet all applicable program, licensure, training, supervision, and personnel file requirements before independently providing services.
