Full Job Description

Role Summary:

The Provisionally Licensed Therapist provides high-quality, evidence-based psychotherapeutic services to clients across the lifespan under the supervision of an approved clinical supervisor. This role is designed for clinicians working toward full licensure (LCSW or psychologist licensure) and requires adherence to state regulatory standards governing clinical assessment, consultation, treatment planning, and psychotherapeutic counseling. Supervision towards licensure is included as a benefit in this role.

The therapist will deliver compassionate, ethical, and culturally responsive care while actively engaging in supervision, ongoing professional development, and compliance with all documentation, billing, and agency procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Services

Provisionally Licensed Therapists are responsible for delivering clinical services consistent with state-defined scope of practice, including:

1. Clinical Assessment

Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments to evaluate psychosocial, behavioral, and mental health concerns. This includes:
Completing mental status examinations and psychosocial histories.
Using accepted diagnostic classifications (e.g., DSM-5-TR) under supervision.
Formulating an individualized, accurate, and clinically sound understanding of client needs to inform treatment planning.

2. Clinical Consultation

Engage in ongoing case consultation as part of the therapeutic process, including:
Participating in case discussions during weekly supervision.
Reviewing treatment plans, client advocacy needs, and progress toward goals.
Coordinating care with relevant providers or community resources when appropriate and approved by the supervisor.

3. Psychotherapeutic Counseling

Provide evidence-based, trauma-informed, and culturally competent psychotherapeutic counseling with the goal of:
Alleviating symptoms associated with mental health conditions.
Addressing relational, emotional, and psychosocial stressors.
Strengthening coping abilities and improving overall functioning and life satisfaction.

Documentation and Compliance

Maintain thorough and accurate documentation of all supervision and clinical activities required for board-approved supervision, ensuring records meet state licensing requirements and support progress toward full licensure.
Complete all clinical documentation, including progress notes, assessments, and treatment plans, within established timelines using the electronic health record (EHR).
Ensure clinical documentation reflects accuracy, professionalism, and adherence to ethical and regulatory standards.
Schedule all appointments accurately in Ensora (or designated EHR), using correct CPT billing codes.
Maintain professional liability insurance and remain in good standing with all relevant professional boards.
Follow all agency policies regarding telehealth, privacy, confidentiality, and electronic communication.

Supervision and Professional Development

Attend weekly clinical supervision sessions
If LSW at least 50% of supervision will need to occur in person as required by state licensure regulations.
Engage openly and professionally in supervision, including presenting cases, discussing clinical challenges, and incorporating feedback.
Maintain accurate records of supervision hours in Time2Track or another approved platform.
Participate in required training, continuing education, and agency-provided professional development.
Demonstrate progressive growth in clinical competency, including:
Establishing and maintaining professional therapeutic relationships.
Assessing client needs and planning appropriate interventions.
Using interventions effectively and flexibly.
Accurately evaluating one’s own strengths and limitations.
Functioning competently in individual, family, group, and systems-level work.
Addressing and documenting any areas of performance concern identified by the supervisor.

Collaboration & Administrative Responsibilities

Maintain regular communication with supervisors, administrative staff, and clinical team members.
Participate in team meetings, case discussions, and required agency initiatives.
Maintain awareness of community resources and provide referrals when needed.
Collaborate with the agency to support client continuity of care and uphold organizational values.

Qualifications:

Master’s or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related mental health field from an accredited institution.
Active provisional license in New Jersey (e.g., LAC, LSW, or Provisionally Licensed Psychologist) in good standing, with no current disciplinary action.
Demonstrated ability to provide ethically grounded, evidence-based clinical services within scope of practice.
Strong organizational, interpersonal, and written communication skills.
Comfort and proficiency using technology, including telehealth platforms and EHR systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience providing therapy in a telehealth or hybrid setting.
Familiarity with Ensora or similar EHR platforms.
Experience with adult and/or adolescent caseloads.
Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive practice.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $45.00 - $55.00 per hour

Expected hours: 8.0 – 15.0 per week
