Senior Associate Attorney – No-Fault & Insurance Defense Litigation
Location: Long Island, NY (Hybrid – Remote Flexibility When Not in Court)
Compensation: Competitive salary commensurate with experience, plus performance incentives
About the Position
We are seeking an experienced and technology-forward Senior Associate Attorney to join our growing insurance defense practice. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in New York No-Fault litigation and preferably third-party insurance defense, with the ability to independently manage a caseload from inception through trial.
This role also includes supervising paralegals, overseeing litigation workflow, and using the firm’s proprietary AI-driven technology to improve efficiency while maintaining attorney-level quality control.
Key Responsibilities:
Case Management and Litigation
- Manage No-Fault and third-party insurance defense matters from inception through trial.
- Develop litigation strategy and evaluate case exposure.
- Conduct court appearances throughout Long Island and the New York metropolitan area.
- Handle depositions, conferences, hearings, arbitrations, and trial preparation.
- Maintain deadlines and ensure compliance with court rules and firm procedures.
Motion Practice and Legal Writing
- Draft, review, and oversee motions, pleadings, discovery demands and responses, opposition papers, replies, arbitration submissions, and trial-related documents.
- Review work prepared by paralegals and support staff.
- Ensure all filings are legally accurate, persuasive, and consistent with firm standards.
Team Leadership
- Supervise, train, and mentor paralegals and support staff.
- Delegate assignments effectively while maintaining appropriate oversight.
- Monitor deadlines, caseloads, workflow, and work quality.
- Provide regular feedback and help improve team efficiency.
AI and Technology Integration
- Use the firm’s proprietary AI-powered litigation platform to assist with document intake, issue extraction, motion drafting, and case management.
- Review, edit, and approve AI-assisted legal work before filing or client submission.
- Serve as the final quality-control reviewer for automated legal output.
- Help identify opportunities to improve workflows through technology.
- Maintain proficiency with case management systems and emerging legal tools.
Client and Firm Relations
- Communicate with insurance carriers, adjusters, experts, opposing counsel, and clients.
- Provide timely case evaluations and litigation updates.
- Represent the firm professionally in court and client interactions.
- Contribute to the firm’s continued growth and operational improvement.
Qualifications Required
- Juris Doctor degree and active admission to the New York State Bar in good standing.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of New York No-Fault defense litigation experience.
- Strong knowledge of New York No-Fault regulations, insurance law, and civil litigation procedures.
- Ability to independently manage a substantial caseload.
- Strong legal writing, analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
- High attention to detail and the ability to manage competing deadlines.
Preferred
- Experience handling third-party insurance defense matters.
- Trial or meaningful trial preparation experience.
- Experience supervising or mentoring paralegals or support staff.
- Familiarity with legal technology, AI-assisted tools, or workflow automation.
