Summary

About the Position: This position is located within the Womack Army Medical Center located at Fort Liberty, North Carolina. Serve as the Assistant to the Credentials Manager, performing a variety of administrative and technical duties. Administers assigned credentials review and clinical privileging portion for all physician and non-physician health care practitioners who require individual clinical privileges.

This is a Direct Hire Solicitation.

Duties

Administer credentials review and clinical privileging for all physicians and non-physician health-care practitioners who require individual clinical privileges.
Advises Medical Treatment Facility (MTF) staff on adverse privileging action(s) by providing recommendations such as limiting, suspending, or revoking the clinical privileges.
Maintains databases that support the credentialing and privileging function, ensuring the effective and efficient management of information for all individually privileged health care providers.
Ensures that appropriate credentials exist, e.g., board certification, residency training to support requested clinical privileges
Handles the grant or renewal of clinical privileges, appointment and reappointment to the medical staff, modification or augmentation of clinical privileges, and the administration of adverse privileging actions.
Follows notifications of adverse events or information and conducts thorough analyses, fully considering factors such as patient impact, hospital liability, and the available evidence.
Advise staff and make recommendations on limiting, suspending, or revoking clinical privileges.
Receive and prepare responses to letters of inquiry received from other hospitals, licensing agencies.
Utilizes a personal computer and word-processing and database software to provide office automation support. Prepares, types, and proofreads correspondence, memoranda, reports, and meeting minutes.

This position is required to be screened for and obtain necessary immunizations/vaccinations (hepatitis, influenza, etc.), unless exempted by a licensed physician.
This position is required to work uncommon tours of duty hours such as, on-call, working either fixed or rotating shifts, evenings, weekends and/or holidays.
This position is designated "Mission Essential". Severe weather conditions, the incumbent may be required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
This position is subject to TOY or business travel requirements to various locations. This may require travel via privately owned vehicles, commercial transport platforms, and/or military aircraft, ships, and vehicles.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: communicating with providers or institutions regarding policy requirements; using medical automated systems or databases; and preparing a variety documents or correspondence. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

OR
Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Health Law, Public Health.

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Proficiency Requirement: Position requires a typing proficiency of at least 40 words per minute (WPM) based on a 5 minute sample with 3 or fewer errors.
