Company Overview
ARCH Design is a national leader in artwork, signage, and graphics for healthcare and senior living environments. We create integrated visual design solutions that enhance patient and resident experiences nationwide.
Position Description
The Junior Signage Graphic Designer supports the design and programming of wayfinding and signage solutions for healthcare and senior living environments. The role turns established design standards, project requirements, architectural information, messaging, and wayfinding needs into accurate, detailed signage packages that can be reviewed, produced, and installed.
This is a specialized signage design and programming role—not a branding, marketing, advertising, UI/UX, or traditional creative graphic design position. Design judgment is important, but the work is highly structured and technical, and accuracy, consistency, and execution are often more important than creating original concepts.
The position is intended for someone who wants to build expertise and a long-term career in signage, environmental graphics, wayfinding, and the technical side of design. It is not structured as a pathway into ARCH Design’s Art Department.
Key Responsibilities
- Program and develop signage packages using SignAgent, applying established design standards, project specifications, messaging, and wayfinding requirements.
- Use Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop as supporting design tools when needed for signage artwork, client review, production, and vendor requirements.
- Translate project requirements and design direction into accurate, production-ready files that meet established specifications and technical standards.
- Manage assigned tasks, priorities, and project updates in Salesforce.
- Collaborate with the Senior Signage Graphic Designer and Project Managers to execute assignments, balance workload, and meet project deadlines.
- Maintain organized project files and perform careful quality checks for accuracy, consistency, scale, messaging, and completeness before files are released.
- Respond constructively to feedback and revisions while maintaining quality and schedule expectations.
Technical Skills
- Ability and willingness to become proficient in SignAgent and other internal systems; SignAgent is a core day-to-day platform for this role.
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop; these skills provide an important foundation but are not the primary focus of the position.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office; Excel experience is a plus.
- Understanding of scale, proportion, and three-dimensional space.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and disciplined file organization.
What Success Looks Like
- You enjoy detailed, structured work and take pride in accuracy and consistency.
- You are comfortable applying established design systems rather than needing to create a new visual concept for every assignment.
- You can stay focused and accurate across large signage packages that may include repetitive elements.
- You are interested in learning specialized software, technical standards, and the practical requirements of producing signage for physical environments.
- You want to develop expertise within signage and wayfinding as a professional specialty.
Qualifications
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work accurately and efficiently on deadline-driven assignments.
- Strong time-management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize work based on timelines and project complexity.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing project needs.
- Comfort working both collaboratively with a team and independently on assigned work.
- Demonstrated ownership, accountability, initiative, and follow-through.
- Self-motivated, flexible, and receptive to feedback and continuous learning.
Education / Experience
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, environmental design, visual communications, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Required: High school diploma or GED.
