Full Job Description

Position Summary:

Patterson Mold and Tool, LLC, an AS9100:2016 and ISO 9001:2015 certified, ITAR-registered leader in precision tooling and machining since 1978, is seeking an experienced CNC Programmer to join our team in St. Charles, MO.

In this role, you will create and optimize CNC programs for our advanced machining centers, including multi-axis milling (up to 5-axis), turning, wire EDM, and related processes. You will support production of complex die cast tooling, trim dies, fixtures, aerospace/defense components, and precision machined parts for industries such as aerospace, medical, automotive, and telecommunications.

Working from engineering drawings, 3D models (primarily in Siemens NX and SolidWorks), and customer specifications, you will develop efficient machining strategies, select appropriate tooling and fixtures, perform setups as needed, prove out programs, and troubleshoot production issues to ensure parts meet tight tolerances and superior surface finishes.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop CNC programs for 3- to 5-axis mills, CNC lathes, wire EDM, and other equipment.
Interpret complex blueprints, CAD models, and GD&T requirements.
Optimize programs for cycle time reduction, tool life, and process reliability.
Collaborate with engineering, machining, and quality teams on new product introduction, prototyping, and process improvements.
Support tool design, repair/refurbishment, and reverse engineering projects using 3D scanning when required.
Maintain program documentation, setup sheets, and tooling lists in compliance with AS9100 and ITAR standards.
Assist in training machinists and operators on new programs and best practices.

Requirements:

5+ years of CNC programming experience in a precision/job shop environment (aerospace, tool & die, or die cast tooling strongly preferred).
Proficiency in WorkNC ,MasterCam, or similar high-end CAM software (PowerMill, ESPRIT, Siemens NX or equivalent also valued).
Strong knowledge of G-code, macro programming, and post-processor customization.
Experience with hard metals including tool steels (H13, S7), stainless (17-4PH, 15-5PH), titanium, and Inconel is a plus
Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-mix/low-to-medium volume production environment.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Familiarity with GD&T, CMM inspection, and quality systems (AS9100/ISO preferred).
