Hot Paws Pet Resort is Nassau County’s locally owned and operated boarding, daycare, and grooming facility. We pride ourselves on providing high-quality pet care in a structured, fast-paced, and professional environment. Recently voted Best of the Best 2025, we continue to grow and are looking to expand our leadership team.

About the Position

We are seeking a dependable, experienced, and hands-on leader to support daily Back of House operations across both our daycare yard and kennel departments. This role is responsible for helping maintain safe, structured, and efficient operations while supporting both pet care standards and staff performance throughout the facility.

This is a working leadership position within a high-volume pet care environment. The ideal candidate is confident handling dogs of all sizes and temperaments, communicates effectively, leads by example, and is comfortable actively working alongside the team throughout the day.

This role is designed for individuals interested in long-term growth within pet care operations and leadership. Advancement opportunities may be available for candidates who demonstrate strong leadership, accountability, adaptability, and operational performance.

Key Responsibilities - Back of House Operations

- Support daily operations across both daycare yard and kennel departments.
- Oversee pet safety, cleanliness, structure, and adherence to company procedures.
- Monitor daycare playgroups, kennel operations, dog movements, feeding schedules, medication administration, and overall pet well-being.
- Monitor dog behavior and assist with safe group management and handling techniques as needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient facility environment.
- Assist with operational flow and staffing support throughout the facility as daily needs change.
- Support collaboration and consistency between kennel and daycare operations to help maintain a cohesive Back of House environment.
- Help identify operational issues proactively and communicate concerns or solutions to management in a timely manner.

Team Leadership & Support

- Help lead daily shift operations by delegating tasks, monitoring workflow, and supporting staff throughout the day.
- Provide hands-on coaching, accountability, and support to maintain operational standards.
- Assist with training and onboarding team members across both departments.
- Communicate effectively with leadership and staff to maintain consistency between teams and shifts.
- Lead by example through professionalism, reliability, communication, and work ethic.

Customer Service & Communication

- Assist with client communication, check-ins, check-outs, and operational questions as needed.
- Help maintain positive client experiences through professionalism and communication.
- Support compliance with vaccination requirements, safety protocols, and company policies.

Requirements

- Previous experience in dog daycare, boarding, kennel, veterinary, grooming, or pet care environments preferred.
- Prior leadership, supervisory, or lead experience strongly preferred.
- Must be reliable, punctual, adaptable, and comfortable in a physically active, high-volume environment.
- Comfortable handling dogs of all breeds, sizes, temperaments, and activity levels.
- Strong communication, multitasking, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Must be comfortable working both independently and collaboratively within daily operations.
- Experience with Gingr or similar pet care software preferred.
- Must be willing to work weekends and holidays (facility operates 365 days/year).

Work Schedule

This role includes rotating shifts. Applicants must be available for morning, evening, weekend, and holiday shifts.

Leadership positions may require flexibility in scheduling based on operational needs, staffing coverage, and peak business periods.

Monday – Friday: 6:20 AM – 5:45 PM or 8:20 PM – 9:30 PM
Saturday: 6:50 AM – 1:00 PM or 6:20 PM – 8:30 PM
Sunday: 6:50 AM – 12:00 PM or 6:20 PM – 8:30 PM

Compensation & Benefits

- $16–$21/hr based on experience and leadership background

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

- Ability to remain calm, organized, and proactive in a physically demanding, high-volume environment with changing priorities throughout the day
