Controls Service Engineer II
Beckwood, headquartered in Fenton, Missouri, is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of custom hydraulic presses and automation equipment and is seeking a Controls Service Engineer II to join our customer service team and contribute to the design and implementation of control systems used on various types of press machinery.
You will collaborate closely with our engineering and production teams, serving as the subject matter expert for our control’s platform. In this role, you will support our service technicians in the installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and retrofitting of PLC-based control systems utilized in hydraulic and servo-electric presses

Control System Troubleshooting & Repair: Diagnose and repair PLC-based press control systems, hydraulic motion control circuits, and servo systems.
Installation & Commissioning: Install, configure, and commission control systems for hydraulic and servo electric presses, ensuring proper integration of PLCs and peripherals
Retrofits & Upgrades: Assist in modernizing hydraulic press controls, upgrading outdated PLCs, HMIs, motion controllers, and hydraulic servo systems for improved performance and automation.
Field Service & Customer Support: Provide on-site and remote troubleshooting for hydraulic and servo electric press controls, minimizing downtime, and ensuring customer satisfaction.
Programming & Debugging: Develop, modify, and troubleshoot PLC logic, HMI screens, motion control programs, and press automation sequences.
Develop PLC programs using several different platforms, primarily Allen Bradley.
Design intuitive and consistent HMIs using InduSoft WebStudio and AB Panel View
Create motion control programs using Delta RMC Tools and Yaskawa MotionWorks.
Integrate third-party controls such as oil heaters, robots, conveyors, etc.
Develop HMI extensions using traditional programming languages (HTML5, SQL, VBScript)
Design simple Industrial IT networks
Control Cabinet Design
Create prints used by electricians to assemble control panels using AutoCAD Electrical.
Ensure electrical designs are compliant with UL508a.
Design safety circuits compliant with ISO 13849.
Monitor budget to keep the design within quoted guidelines
Create Controls Approvals document for review and sign-off by the customer
Adapt to occasional customer requirements on hardware.
Preventive Maintenance & Optimization: Conduct control system inspections and hydraulic system tuning to enhance system performance and reliability.
Documentation & Reporting: Maintain service reports, control schematics, wiring diagrams, and software backups for customer and internal records.
Training & Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, production, and service teams to provide training and guidance on press control systems.
Bachelor’s degree in a technical field, most commonly Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
1 -3 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment
2 - 5 years industry experience without a bachelor’s degree
Self-starter who is adaptable to work independently and within a team environment
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in an interactive group environment are essential.
Travel requirements up to 25%

This position operates in an office environment with equal time in the plant. The employee is regularly exposed to a variety of conditions within the plant. The noise level is usually moderate. This role primarily operates in a professional office environment, requiring the ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods while occasionally moving about to access office equipment and files. Additionally, the position occasionally requires moving throughout the manufacturing floor to position oneself for equipment inspection or maintenance. This includes ascending/descending and working atop ladders or elevated platforms, as well as accessing machinery at varying heights, including ground level.
