About Panoptic Accounting Group

Panoptic Accounting Group is a growing virtual accounting and tax advisory firm dedicated to helping small business owners make informed financial decisions through proactive tax planning, accounting, and advisory services.

We're building advisors - not just tax preparers.

At Panoptic Accounting Group, we partner with business owners who want more than accurate tax returns. They want proactive guidance, better financial decisions, and a trusted advisor who helps them build stronger businesses.

We're looking for professionals who take ownership, communicate proactively, and care as much about the client's success as the tax return itself.

Employment Status

This is a part-time W-2 employee position.

We are seeking a long-term member of our team who is interested in growing with our firm.

This position is not open to:

Independent contractors (1099)
Individuals actively operating an accounting or tax practice serving outside clients
Outsourced bookkeeping or accounting firms

What You'll Actually Do

This role combines tax preparation, tax research, and advisory support.

You'll prepare tax returns, but you'll also help clients understand why the numbers matter and how today's decisions affect tomorrow's taxes.

Your responsibilities include:

Prepare individual, partnership, S corporation, and corporate tax returns.
Research federal and state tax issues and communicate practical recommendations.
Assist with proactive tax planning throughout the year—not just during tax season.
Participate in advisory meetings with business owners.
Analyze entity structures and identify planning opportunities.
Communicate professionally with clients, the IRS, and state taxing authorities.
Collaborate with our bookkeeping team to ensure accurate financial information.
Use technology—including AI tools—to improve efficiency while maintaining professional judgment.
Meet virtually with business owners to discuss tax planning opportunities.
Identify deductions, credits, and proactive tax-saving strategies.
Assist clients with estimated tax planning.
Advise clients regarding entity selection, S corporation elections, accountable plans, retirement strategies, depreciation planning, estimated tax planning, and other proactive tax-saving opportunities.
Help clients understand the tax implications of business decisions before they occur
Continue learning as tax law evolves.

Qualifications: Required

Active CPA or EA license.
Experience preparing individual and business income tax returns.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
Proficiency with tax research.
Experience with QuickBooks Online.

Qualifications: Preferred

Experience with ProConnect Tax.
Experience representing clients before the IRS or state taxing authorities.
Experience with tax planning and advisory services.
Small-business accounting experience.

Schedule

Approximately 20 hours per week
Monday through Friday
Work performed during normal business hours (Eastern Time)
A consistent weekly schedule will be established upon hire
Availability during normal business hours is required for client meetings and team collaboration
No evenings or weekends
