Position Summary: The Counselor Aide Shift Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Counselor Aide team during assigned shifts, ensuring the delivery of safe, effective, and culturally responsive care to residents. This role provides direct supervision to Counselor Aide staff, monitors facility safety and security, and ensures adherence to all organizational policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. The Shift Supervisor serves as the primary point of contact during their shift for staff guidance, incident response, and operational decision-making, and works collaboratively with leadership to maintain a high standard of care.

Organizational Structure/Reporting Relationships: This position is part of the Behavioral Health division and has direct reports.

Job Responsibilities

Provide direct supervision to Counselor Aide staff during assigned shifts, ensuring effective, consistent, and efficient team performance.
Serve as the primary point of contact for all shift-related operational needs, staff concerns, and real-time decision-making.
Maintain and monitor staff work schedules to ensure adequate shift coverage, including day, swing, and graveyard shifts, and address gaps due to sick leave, vacations, or emergencies.
Complete and verify electronic timekeeping entries for Counselor Aide staff and address discrepancies in a timely manner.
Ensure patient health, safety, and facility security policies and procedures are always upheld, including conducting regular facility monitoring.
Respond to patient health needs promptly and in accordance with established procedures, and ensure all incidents (safety, medical, and behavioral) are accurately documented and reported to supervisory staff.
Be knowledgeable of all emergency procedures and ensure they are carried out properly when needed.
Be knowledgeable of patient medication distribution and monitoring protocols and ensure proper staff adherence.
Ensure Counselor Aide staff are informed of, trained in, and adhering to all organizational and program policies, procedures, and protocols.
Address personnel issues promptly and escalate staff concerns to the Counselor Aide Manager or Residential Director of Operations as appropriate, supporting investigations as directed.
Assist in identifying staff training needs, provide performance feedback to the Counselor Aide Manager, and participate in staff appraisal processes as directed.
Be knowledgeable of local and state residential treatment facility requirements and ensure shift compliance.
Attend required meetings, in-service trainings, and committees as assigned and actively participate in quality-improvement initiatives.
Work effectively under pressure, managing multiple and competing priorities while demonstrating cooperative and professional behavior with supervisors, colleagues, clients, and the community.

Proficiency in electronic timekeeping systems or the ability to learn and navigate related software.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to accurately document incidents, manage timekeeping, and communicate effectively with staff and leadership.
Current CPR and First Aid certification, or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe upon hire.
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including day, swing, graveyard, and on-call shifts as needed.
Minimum of one (1) year of supervisory or lead experience, preferably in a residential or healthcare environment.

Work Environment: SIHB operates on a 4x10 (4 days per week, 10 hours per day) work schedule with occasional extra hours for events Saturday clinic and to meet deadlines.
