Job Summary:
We are seeking dedicated Produce/meat dept clerks to ensure our produce and meat section is a showcase of freshness and quality. In this role, you’ll work under the guidance of the Produce/meat Manager, handling, stocking, and processing meat, fresh fruits and vegetables. Your keen eye for produce freshness and ability to skillfully use various knives will play a critical part in delivering consistency and excellence. As part of this role, you will also ensure our produce displays are attractive and organized, enhancing customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
Inspect and ensure the freshness and quality of produce items, discarding any that do not meet standards.
Stock, organize, and display produce items thoughtfully to appeal to customers.
Skillfully prepare produce items using knives and other necessary tools.
Follow detailed instructions from the Produce Manager to maintain consistency and product quality.
Provide excellent customer service, assisting with inquiries and offering guidance on produce selection.
Maintain cleanliness and organization within the produce area continuously.
Work collaboratively within a small team to enhance department efficiency and customer experience.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Previous experience in a produce department or retail/grocery setting is a plus.
Ability to identify produce freshness and quality indicators.
Competency in handling knives safely and effectively to prepare produce.
Physical capability to lift- up to 50 lbs.
Strong listening, comprehension, and communication skills for effective team and customer interaction.
Working Conditions:
Regular communication and interaction with team members and management.
Exposure to varying temperatures in storage and display areas.
Use of knives and sharp tools occasionally.
Flexibility to work weekends and holidays as required.
Work attire appropriate for a grocery store environment, ensuring safety and professionalism.
Compensation:
Competitive starting wage starting at $14.00/hr, with possible increases along the way based on performance.

Job Summary
The Meat Department Clerk, also known as a Meat Wrapper, is responsible for wrapping, pricing, and stocking fresh meat products prepared by our on-site butchers. This position is based at either of our two grocery store locations and plays a key role in maintaining product quality, proper presentation, and efficient operation of the meat department. No prior experience is required; training will be provided by an experienced Meat Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Wrap and package fresh meat products using an automatic wrapping machine and, when necessary, by hand
- Accurately price and label meat items using correct item codes
- Learn to recognize various meat products and cuts for proper packaging and pricing
- Rotate and stock meat products in the retail display cases
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas and equipment
- Work in a refrigerated cutting room environment (approximately 40–50°F)
- Assist with handling, packing, and processing raw chicken and other meats as trained
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and company procedures
- Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Schedule & Work Environment
- Typical start time is between 8:00 AM and 9:00 AM
- Shifts generally last until 3:00 PM or later, depending on business needs
- Full-time position, typically 6 days per week, averaging 35–45 hours per week
Qualifications
- No prior meat department experience required
- Ability to learn job duties quickly and work at a fast pace
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Comfortable working in a cold environment
- Dependable, punctual, and team-oriented
Training
- On-the-job training provided by an experienced Meat Manager who is on site daily
Compensation
- Starting wage ranges from $14.00 to $18.00 per hour, based on experience and performance during the first 30 days of training
