Job Description:
The Injection Molding Technician is responsible for all aspects of the Injection Molding processes including changing out molds, completing setups, troubleshooting, operation, and maintenance of injection molding equipment.
Essential Job Function:
Oversee mold and material changing process and ensure that all aspects of the production meet the required standards. This includes setting up mold changes, ensuring that housekeeping standards are met, and making adjustments as necessary to ensure that the molded parts meet the necessary requirements. Train and coach machine operators to ensure that they are following proper procedures and adhering to all safety, quality, and work rules and regulations.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Independently performs significant machine process adjustments to achieve optimal part quality without relying solely on set-up books.
- Conducts tool changes autonomously, including full set-up of auxiliary equipment such as hot runners, water lines, and related systems.
- Collaborates with the Operations Manager to drive departmental efficiency initiatives and implement continuous improvement strategies.
- Works with robots and end-of-arm tooling to support automated processes.
- Performs SPC inspections to verify part conformity and maintain process stability.
- Troubleshoots auxiliary equipment including conveyors, sprue pickers, thermolators, and hot-runner controllers.
- Assists in training and developing team members to strengthen technical capability across the department.
- Performs additional duties as assigned by the Injection Molding Superintendent.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- RJG or Paulson training preferred; Master Molder certification desired.
- 2–5 years of experience in a plastics or injection molding role with strong mechanical aptitude.
- Demonstrated proficiency in reading, writing, and math to support accurate documentation and decision-making.
- Strong mechanical and technical knowledge within the plastics/injection molding environment.
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills with a high level of detail orientation.
- Strong computer proficiency with the ability to navigate production and quality systems effectively.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to interact across all levels of the organization.
Physical Demands:
Must possess mobility to work in a standard warehouse setting and work with and around a variety of equipment, parts, and inventory, to operate a motor vehicle and forklift; strength, stamina, and mobility to perform medium physical work; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone or radio. The job involves walking and working on slippery surfaces. Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard or calculator. Positions in this classification bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and climb to perform work. Employees must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 50 pounds and heavier weights with the proper equipment. All employees must wear company approved safety glasses while in the plant and distribution areas.
Environmental Elements:
Employees primarily work in the warehouse and are exposed to loud noise levels, vibration, chemicals, dust, mechanical hazards, and moving objects or other vehicles. May be exposed to cold and hot temperatures, inclement weather conditions, mechanical hazards, and hazardous physical substances and fumes. Employees may interact with staff and/or public and private representatives in interpreting and enforcing departmental policies and procedures.

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
