Job Description

The Legal Records Clerk IV - General Sessions performs a variety of clerical duties to ensure the effective administrative operation of General Sessions Division.

Essential Functions:

Prepares motion roster and coordinates the scheduling with Judges and attorneys.
Receives, processes, and distributes a variety of legal documents from attorneys.
Handles high telephone call requests for information.
Assists in courtroom performing various tasks in the operation of court trials such as data entry, calculating fines and fees, completing sentence sheets, and assisting judges and attorneys.
Assists in collecting and filing the appropriate paperwork and fees for bondsmen for licensing and off-bond motions.
Interacts with a variety of individuals, including the Clerk of Court, Judges, solicitors, public defenders, co-workers, paralegals, defendants, jurors, law enforcement agencies and the general public.

Non-Essential Functions:

Serves as back-up cashier to LRC III in their absence, such as completing deposits and cash drawer close-out.
Performs all other related duties as required.

Qualifications: Education and Work Experience

Requires vocational/technical diploma in paralegal studies or related field supplemented by three to five years of legal experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge, and experience.
Must be a S.C. Notary Public.

Frequently required to perform basic physical activities and communicate effectively to carry out essential job duties.

Correctable vision sufficient to read monitors, labels, and drive safely.
