Latitude is looking for a South Carolina-based lawyer with 5+ years of personal injury defense litigation experience for a part-time, flexible engagement position with a national law firm. This position is best suited for a solo practitioner or an attorney who is interested in part-time "as-needed" work. The successful candidate should enjoy working as part of a dynamic team and have significant litigation experience handling written discovery, motion work, depositions and court hearings. Trial experience a plus but not required. The job is fully remote.
Responsibilities of the South Carolina-Barred Defense Litigation Attorney:
Drafting pleadings, motions, memoranda of law, discovery requests and responses, and legal correspondence- Attend all court appearances and depositions for South Carolina cases
- Handle all aspects of discovery
- Efficiently and competently research legal issues
- Communicate clearly both orally and in writing to colleagues and clients
Requirements for the South Carolina-Barred Defense Litigation Attorney:
5+ years of litigation experience working on personal injury defense cases- Licensed to practice law in South Carolina and in good standing
- J.D. from an accredited law school
- Outstanding references
Position Details of the South Carolina-Barred Defense Litigation Attorney:
Type of Role: Engagement- Schedule: Part-Time (approximately 5-10 hours per week)
- Location: Fully Remote (Residing in South Carolina)
Compensation
Pay: The annualized pay for this position ranges from $150,000 to $185,000 when calculated on a full-time basis. Pay for contract engagements is based on multiple factors including but not limited to work experience, qualifications, credentials, location, market supply/demand, and the candidate’s preference (each candidate’s pay rate affects the client bill rate which can affect the candidate’s competitiveness for the position).
Benefits: In addition to compensation, all Latitude attorneys and other legal professionals working on contract engagements receive complimentary professional liability insurance coverage for work or acts or omissions provided within the scope of a Latitude-authorized engagement. All Latitude employees (including those on contract engagements) are also eligible for full benefits when working 20+ hours per week, including group medical, dental, and vision insurance, and complimentary group life, LTD and AD&D insurance. A qualified 401k plan is also available. Benefits-eligible Latitude Attorneys also receive a CLE and Professional Expense stipend.
