Tax Specialist, CPA (Remote)

Compensation: $90,000 – $120,000+ DOE
Location: Fully Remote (U.S.-Based)
Candidates must work Eastern Time hours. Not considering candidates located in California, Washington, Oregon, Hawaii, Alaska, or New York.

This is an opportunity to join a well-established boutique CPA firm serving a loyal client base of high-net-worth individuals and closely held businesses. The Tax Specialist, CPA will work on complex tax engagements, provide strategic client guidance, and contribute to a collaborative team environment—all while maintaining a healthy work-life balance.

Unlike many public accounting firms, this organization prioritizes sustainable workloads and long-term career growth, offering a structured 40-hour work week throughout the year, including busy season.

Core Responsibilities

Manage complex tax planning and compliance engagements for high-net-worth individuals and privately held businesses

Prepare and review federal, state, and multi-state tax filings

Research technical tax issues and document findings through tax memorandums and recommendations

Serve as a trusted advisor and primary point of contact for clients

Identify tax-saving opportunities and assist with strategic planning initiatives

Support sales tax, property tax, and federal excise tax compliance activities

Assist with process improvements, automation initiatives, and workflow efficiencies

Mentor team members and contribute to a collaborative, knowledge-sharing culture

Qualifications

Active CPA required

5+ years of recent public accounting tax experience

Experience managing complex, multi-state tax engagements

Strong background working with high-net-worth individuals and/or closely held businesses

Knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations

Strong tax research and technical writing skills

Proven career progression with demonstrated stability and tenure

Ability to work independently in a remote environment while collaborating effectively with a team
