If you have ever wished you could improve functional medicine not one patient at a time, but by shaping the platform thousands of clinicians use to make better decisions, this is that opportunity.
About BioInsights
Healthcare has spent the last thirty years digitizing billing. We think it is time to digitize clinical reasoning.
BioInsights is building the world's first Clinical Operating System for Root-Cause Medicine™ - an AI-powered platform designed to help providers think faster, treat smarter, and scale with confidence.
Instead of forcing clinicians to adapt to software, we are building software that adapts to how exceptional clinicians actually think. Our platform brings clinical decision intelligence, functional medicine workflows, lab interpretation, protocol intelligence, documentation, and treatment support into one seamless experience.
We are an early-stage, Series A company with a small core team and a large engineering development group. That means the right person will have unusual influence: your clinical judgment will directly shape what gets built and how providers experience the product.
Why This Role Is Different
Most health-tech companies bring clinicians in after a product has been designed to review content or validate whether something is medically acceptable.
This role starts much earlier.
You will help decide how the product should work in the first place - what a functional medicine provider needs to see, in what order, what matters most, what creates confidence, and where technology should reduce cognitive load without replacing clinical judgment.
You will work directly with our Chief Medical Officer, Founder & CEO, Product, Design, Engineering, and clinical research team. You will be one of the people turning years of real-world functional medicine experience into a product that could influence how root-cause medicine is practiced at scale.
Your Mission
Make BioInsights work the way an exceptional functional medicine practitioner thinks and treats.
You will transform the art of functional medicine into a clinician experience and clinical knowledge system that is intuitive, rigorous, scalable, and genuinely useful at the point of care.
What You Will Own1. Clinical Product & Provider Workflow - Approximately 70%
This is the heart of the role. You will be the clinical product owner for the provider experience inside BioInsights.
· Map how functional medicine clinicians move from intake to assessment, prioritization, treatment, documentation, and follow-up.
· Review product concepts, prototypes, and live workflows through the eyes of an experienced functional medicine practitioner.
· Identify friction, missing context, poor sequencing, unnecessary clicks, cognitive overload, and places where the product does not match real clinical practice.
· Define what information a provider needs at each step, what should be emphasized, what should remain optional, and what should happen next.
· Translate clinical needs into clear requirements and acceptance criteria that Product, Design, and Engineering can act on.
· Help shape high-impact workflows including patient intake, provider dashboards, visit preparation, lab interpretation, clinical prioritization, treatment recommendations, documentation, and follow-up.
· Test new features and workflows before release and help validate them with early customers.
· Make thoughtful decisions about where AI can meaningfully reduce work or improve insight - and where the clinician should remain firmly in control.
2. Clinical Knowledge Architecture - Approximately 30%
You will also help turn deep functional medicine knowledge into structured clinical intelligence that the platform can use consistently.
· Curate and continuously improve the clinical knowledge base supporting BioInsights.
· Translate real-world clinical reasoning into structured pathways, rules, priorities, and decision-support logic.
· Help define how symptoms, history, biomarkers, dysfunctions, protocols, interventions, contraindications, and follow-up relate to one another.
· Guide evidence standards and protocol quality so the product reflects both scientific rigor and experienced clinical judgment.
· Oversee and direct clinical research staff who support literature review, protocol development, and knowledge-base expansion. You will also participate in some of these tasks yourself. This is a hands-on role.
· Help determine when the system should increase confidence, surface uncertainty, or escalate a decision for additional clinical review.
3. Clinical Governance & Product Validation
· Partner with the CMO on clinical standards, protocol governance, safeguards, evidence review, and quality assurance.
· Participate in review of new clinical capabilities before they reach providers.
· Surface clinical risk early and help the team distinguish between a product convenience and a clinical decision that requires greater scrutiny.
4. Direct Provider Insight - Less Than 10%
You will occasionally work directly with early customers - not as a traditional customer success leader, but to observe real workflow, hear advanced clinical feedback, validate product decisions, and understand where the experience can improve. You will serve as a subject matter expert on our system.
The Questions You Will Help Us Answer
· What should a provider see first when reviewing a complex case?
· How should the system prioritize multiple dysfunctions without oversimplifying the patient?
· When do symptoms, history, and clinical context matter more than an isolated biomarker?
· What is the clearest way to present lab interpretation without overwhelming the provider?
· Which recommendations should be surfaced first, and why?
· How should we represent uncertainty and confidence?
· Where can AI save time without undermining clinical judgment?
· What would make a functional medicine provider trust this workflow enough to use it every day?
What Success Looks Like
Within your first year, you will have materially changed the product - not simply advised on it.
· BioInsights feels intuitive to experienced functional medicine clinicians because the workflow reflects how they actually practice.
· The most important provider workflows are simpler, faster, and easier to trust.
· Clinical requirements are clear enough that Product and Engineering can build efficiently without guessing what clinicians need.
· The clinical knowledge architecture can support all major functional medicine body systems and use cases with increasing consistency.
· The product delivers better clinical context and decision support while preserving provider judgment.
· Early customers report greater confidence, less workflow friction, and a strong desire to keep using the platform.
· A repeatable process exists for turning clinical expertise and evidence into product improvements.
Who We Are Looking For
We are looking for someone who has actually practiced functional medicine day after day and now wants to use that experience to shape how medicine is delivered through technology.
The ideal candidate is no longer looking to carry a full patient panel. You are ready to take what you have learned from thousands of clinical decisions and apply it at a much larger scale.
Required
· Clinical credential such as MD, DO, NP, or ND. We care more about the depth of your functional medicine experience than the prestige of the letters after your name.
· At least 5 years of substantial, day-to-day functional or integrative medicine practice; 7-15 years of overall clinical experience is highly attractive.
· Deep experience across multiple body systems rather than a narrow specialty.
· Strong experience interpreting functional medicine laboratory testing and building individualized treatment plans.
· Meaningful prescribing or therapeutic decision-making experience appropriate to your license and scope of practice.
· Formal training through the Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM), A4M, or a comparable advanced functional/integrative medicine program.
· Firsthand experience using an EHR or clinical software while actively seeing patients.
· Strong systems thinking: you naturally notice sequence, dependencies, missing information, friction, and better ways to organize complex clinical work.
· Ability to explain clinical reasoning clearly to non-clinicians and translate it into actionable requirements.
· Excellent writing, judgment, curiosity, independence, and comfort operating in an entrepreneurial environment.
· Comfort working alongside AI-enabled products. You do not need to be technical or know how to code.
Especially Valuable
· IFM Certified Practitioner (IFMCP), IFM faculty/educator experience, or significant A4M involvement.
· Experience developing protocols, clinical education, clinician training, or standardized care pathways.
· Experience improving workflows inside a multi-provider functional medicine practice.
· Prior exposure to digital health, EHR implementation, clinical product development, clinical decision support, or healthcare software.
· Experience leading or directing clinical researchers or other clinicians.
· Speaking, teaching, publishing, or creating high-quality clinical content.
· Experience in longevity medicine, wearables, personalized health, or advanced diagnostics.
You Will Thrive Here If...
· You have spent years thinking, “There has to be a better way to practice this.”
· You love connecting clinical dots that other people miss.
· You notice immediately when software makes a clinician work harder instead of making them better.
· You enjoy turning complex clinical thinking into simple, usable systems.
· You can have a strong clinical opinion, explain the reasoning behind it, and still collaborate well with others.
· You are energized by building something before all the answers are known.
· You want your impact to extend beyond the patients you could personally see in a day.
· You believe technology and AI should strengthen - not replace - the relationship between provider and patient.
This Is a Hands-On Role
This point is important: BioInsights is a small, fast-moving company. This is not a role where you arrive, create a strategy, and hire a large department to execute it.
You will personally review workflows, define clinical requirements, test product experiences, edit clinical logic, make judgment calls, direct supporting research, and work side-by-side with Product and Engineering.
There are clinical research resources that can support you, but the value of this role comes from your own judgment and involvement. If you love building, you will have enormous room to make an impact here.
Our Core Values
