Location: Boca Raton, FL

Real Estate Controller

We are a growing real estate development and investment company looking for an experienced Real Estate Controller to oversee the accounting and financial operations across multiple entities and properties.

Our portfolio includes residential construction and development, commercial real estate, and rental properties, so we are looking for someone who is comfortable working across multiple companies, projects, and property types in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

Oversee accounting for multiple real estate entities, development projects, and properties
Maintain accurate books and financial records in QuickBooks
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements
Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger activity
Handle bank and credit card reconciliations
Track construction and development costs by project
Maintain accurate job costing and project accounting
Track rental income, property expenses, security deposits, and other property-level activity
Manage intercompany transactions and reconciliations between entities
Monitor cash balances and cash flow across multiple companies and projects
Coordinate with outside CPAs for tax returns, year-end reporting, and other accounting matters
Maintain loan and debt schedules and assist with lender reporting
Help improve accounting procedures, reporting, and internal controls
Work directly with ownership and provide clear, timely financial information
Identify accounting issues and solve problems without needing constant direction

Qualifications

Minimum 5 years of accounting/controller experience
Strong QuickBooks experience required
Experience handling accounting for multiple entities
Real estate and construction accounting experience required
Experience with construction, development, commercial properties, and/or rental properties
Strong understanding of financial statements, general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and cash management
Construction job-costing experience is a major plus
Highly organized and able to manage numerous companies, projects, and deadlines simultaneously
Strong attention to detail
Comfortable working directly with company ownership
Able to work independently and take ownership of the accounting function

We are looking for a self-starter who is motivated, organized, and moves quickly. This is not a position for someone who needs to be constantly managed or told what to do next.

Our company moves at a fast pace, and there are always multiple projects and transactions happening at the same time. The right person will be comfortable taking responsibility for the accounting department, figuring things out, staying ahead of deadlines, and making sure nothing falls through the cracks.

Real estate and construction experience is important because our accounting is more involved than that of a typical operating business. We want someone who understands how to keep multiple entities, development projects, and income-producing properties organized while giving ownership a clear picture of where everything stands.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $135,000.00 - $165,000.00 per year
