Full Job Description

Job Overview
Under the direct supervision of the Community Doula Program Coordinator, the Doula Engagement Specialist is responsible for assisting with program participant initial intake and assessment, recruiting participants through community outreach activities, providing education to the community about services available through the Coalition, as well as making and maintaining partnerships with other community service organizations. This position is also responsible for providing direct services to support pregnant and postpartum women and their families during home visits and during labor at a birthing facility. The aim of the Community Doula Program is to enhance the health and well-being of pregnant and postpartum women and their families in the community.

Assist in the review of program referrals, meet with clients to perform intakes and assign referrals to contracted community doulas
Provide clients with information about the doula program including program timeline and expectations
Provide education and referrals to clients about community resources
Report to the Community Doula Program Coordinator client concerns requiring immediate response
Enter and maintain accurate documentation in required coalition databases (including CQI tracking if applicable)
Adhere to timeframes in compliance as required by contracts
Maintain participant confidentiality and integrity in keeping with agency policies, practices, professional standards, and program requirements
Assists in shadowing and mentoring contracted doulas
Assist with ensuring credential requirements for contracted community doulas are met and kept current
Attend ongoing training and continuing education for contracted community doulas
Help monitor and support the on-call doula model, ensuring coverage and communication
Participate in outreach activities to identify program participants, inform the community of services, and build community collaborative relationships
Support documentation and tracking of program outcomes
Facilitate classes for the community as needed
Stay current with literature and issues related to maternal, paternal, and child health
Participate in Service Delivery Plan initiatives relative to maternal and child health
Attend meetings and trainings as required
Attend community meetings
Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

Must have a minimum of an associate’s degree. Bachelor’s degree preferred. At least three years of professional experience in social services, health care, maternal and child health, public health, early childhood development or related social service field required. Experience working directly with clients preferred. Experience working with diverse communities, organizations, and agencies preferred. Knowledge of pregnancy health is preferred. Knowledge about Florida Medicaid preferred. Strong communication and writing skills are required. Proficiency in computer applications is required. Must have a driver’s license and reliable transportation. Spanish speaking is a plus. Completion of G.R.O.W. Doula certification within 12 months of hire. Must successfully pass a Level II Background Screen (https://info.flclearinghouse.com) and be able to lift 10 – 15 pounds.

Compensation: $45,000
