Job Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Durable Medical Equipment (DME) Coordinator to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess strong medical office experience, excellent organizational skills, and a thorough understanding of health insurance policies. In this role, you will manage the procurement, documentation, and billing processes related to durable medical equipment, ensuring compliance with clinical confidentiality policies and insurance requirements.

Responsibilities

Coordinate the ordering, delivery, and fitting of durable medical equipment for patients in accordance with physician prescriptions.
Verify insurance coverage and obtain prior authorization for DME services, ensuring compliance with managed care policies.
Maintain accurate medical records and documentation related to DME services within electronic health records (EHR) systems.
Collaborate with insurance companies to facilitate claims processing, medical billing, and reimbursement procedures.
Ensure adherence to HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies when handling patient information.
Provide exceptional customer service by addressing patient inquiries regarding DME products, insurance coverage, and billing concerns.
Stay current with medical coding standards including CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding to ensure precise billing practices.

Skills

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications for documentation and communication purposes.
Strong knowledge of health insurance policies, managed care processes, and insurance verification procedures.
Experience with electronic health records (EHR) management systems and medical records organization.
Familiarity with medical terminology, clinical confidentiality policies, and medical billing practices.
Ability to interpret and apply CPT coding, ICD-9/ICD-10 codes accurately for billing purposes.
Excellent customer service skills with a professional demeanor when interacting with patients and healthcare providers.
Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure compliance in all aspects of patient information handling.
