About Project501

Project501 is a growing consulting firm that provides grant writing, funding research, and grant administration services to nonprofit organizations. We currently serve several nonprofit clients working in areas including youth development, food insecurity, and community services.

Our work gives team members exposure to a variety of nonprofit organizations, programs, funding sources, and community-based initiatives. This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in building a career in the nonprofit sector, public sector, government, philanthropy, or community impact.

About the Position

We are seeking a motivated and organized Grants Coordinator to assist with the full grant cycle for our nonprofit clients.

This position is expected to begin in December 2026 and is especially well suited for students graduating in the Fall 2026 semester who are looking to transition directly into a professional role after graduation.

This is a hybrid, seasonal position based near downtown Tampa. The owner of Project501 spends several months each year working from Tampa and several months traveling throughout the year. During periods when the owner is in Tampa, the position will include regular in-person work and hands-on training. During travel periods, the role may transition to primarily remote work.

The position can be structured as an internship for a recent college graduate or as a part-time role for someone with previous nonprofit, administrative, grant writing, research, or related professional experience.

The current schedule is approximately 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday, for a total of approximately 25 hours per week, although there is flexibility depending on the candidate and workload.

Responsibilities

The Grants Coordinator will support the full-cycle administrative grant process for multiple nonprofit clients. Responsibilities will include:

Researching foundations, corporations, government agencies, and other potential funding opportunities
Identifying grants that align with each client's programs, geography, mission, and funding needs
Reviewing grant guidelines, eligibility requirements, deadlines, and application processes
Assisting with the development and writing of grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and funding requests
Collecting and organizing information needed for grant applications
Completing online grant applications and submitting proposals on behalf of clients
Maintaining grant calendars, deadlines, application records, and client tracking systems
Updating spreadsheets and internal grant management documents
Conducting research on nonprofit programs, community needs, funders, and prospective partners
Assisting with follow-up communications and other grant-related administrative work
Supporting multiple nonprofit client projects simultaneously

Training & Mentorship

Paid training will be provided.

For recent graduates in particular, this position is designed to be more than a traditional entry-level administrative role. It is intended to provide a meaningful mentorship and professional development experience.

You will work directly with and receive training from the owner of Project501, who has more than five years of experience working for and alongside dozens of nonprofit and government organizations.

You will learn how nonprofit organizations operate, how they fund their programs, how foundations and government agencies evaluate funding requests, and how professional grant development works from initial research through final submission.

Because Project501 works with several different organizations, you will gain exposure to an assortment of nonprofit models, programs, communities, funding strategies, and organizational structures.
