Full Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION: PATROL CAPTAIN

Sea Tow Daytona/Ponce/New Smyrna seeks a part/full-time, licensed professional captain to join our industry leading Marine Assistance Company (Similar to AAA on the water). Sea Tow is the on-water assistance industry leader with an exceptional service reputation and national brand recognition. The captain candidate must possess excellent small boat handling skills and be comfortable, skilled and confident on a small boat in all types of conditions as a sole operator. The candidate must be of strong character, be able to quickly respond using situational awareness and operate with a safety mindset at all times.

Responsibilities (include but are not limited to the following):

Operate a Fast Response Assistance Towing vessel on patrol in the Volusia County area, assisting disabled boaters on-the-water. Assistance will include; marine towing, fuel drops, jumpstarts, ungroundings, troubleshooting and general marine assistance.
Coordinate and assist in light salvage operations. (SCUBA experience preferred)
Perform general daily routine maintenance on the towboats during the boating season and more extensive maintenance during the off-season.
Membership Sales & Expired Membership Reacquisition.
Participation in boat shows and special events.
Scheduled Day/Overnight Standby.
Weekends/Holidays required.

Mandatory Requirements:

Positive Attitude and a Safety Mindset
USCG, tonnage License (50 Ton, 100 Ton, etc) upon Near Coastal waters with an Assistance Towing endorsement.
Current CPR Certification
A current Transportation Workers Identity Credential (TWIC) card is required to use your license.
Proof of recent Drug Testing. We do a pre-employment Drug Test screen and then place all employees on a random drug-testing program as required by the USCG.

Training:

In addition to having a USCG License, all captains are required to take part in our, "In House" training on procedures. Sea Tow Daytona/Ponce/New Smyrna provides training at no expense to the employee. Some classroom and a few days of on-the-water training are required before operating the vessels. Proficiency standards must be satisfactorily completed prior to receiving a formal position and all Captain’s are then placed on probation for the first 6 months.
