About the Role

Metro Healthy Communities is a Federally Qualified Health Center Look-Alike (FQHC-LAL) providing primary care, HIV / HCV / HIV Prevention / STI treatment, along with a range of patient-centered supportive and behavioral health services. The AR Billing Specialist manages the full billing cycle, from claims submission through denial resolution, using CPT and ICD-10 coding knowledge in our eClinicalWorks EMR to ensure timely, accurate reimbursement.

Key Responsibilities

Process an average of 80 claims daily, ensuring accurate insurance sequencing and timely submission
Verify patient insurance coverage and ensure demographic accuracy on all claims
Review, appeal, and resolve denied or unpaid claims to maximize reimbursement
Monitor and update patient AR balances and the Aging Report
Work directly with insurance companies, patients, and clinic staff to resolve billing issues
Coordinate Third Party Liability (TPL) claims and assist patients with COB updates
Handle collections, payment arrangements, and Sliding Fee Discount Program assistance
Answer billing questions from patients, providers, and payers by phone and email

Qualifications

Minimum 2 years of medical billing or denial specialist experience; primary care and behavioral health setting highly preferred
Experience with Medicaid, Medicare, Managed Care, and HMO/PPO payers
Knowledge of EMR systems, eClinicalWorks preferred
Strong working knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding
Excellent attention to detail, communication, and organizational skills
Valid Florida driver's license, proof of insurance, and reliable transportation
Must pass Level II background check, fingerprinting, and E-Verify employment eligibility
