Full Job Description

Position Summary

The Manager, Quality Control provides strategic and operational QC leadership for a designated region, including oversight of the home-based QC laboratory and support for multiple manufacturing facilities. This role is responsible for driving quality, consistency, compliance, and continuous improvement across regional operations while partnering closely with Plant Operations, Quality Assurance, and R&D.

The Manager, Quality Control ensures facilities remain audit- and inspection-ready, develops and implements effective QC systems and procedures, leads quality improvement initiatives, and provides technical leadership and training to QC personnel.

Key Responsibilities

Provide overall Quality Control leadership and technical support for the assigned region and multiple manufacturing facilities.
Oversee the home-based QC laboratory and ensure effective laboratory operations, testing, documentation, and equipment management.
Support corporate Quality Control and operational improvement initiatives designed to improve product quality, efficiency, consistency, and compliance.
Ensure all assigned plants maintain continuous audit- and inspection-readiness.
Identify, prioritize, and lead process improvement initiatives throughout the assigned region.
Conduct Quality Improvement Program (QIP) assessments at selected facilities and lead corrective and continuous improvement activities.
Collaborate with Plant Management, QA Managers, R&D, and other cross-functional teams to coordinate quality initiatives and ensure alignment between manufacturing, QA, and R&D.
Partner with R&D to ensure manufacturing specifications and raw material specifications are established, current, accurate, and consistently enforced.
Develop, implement, and maintain regional QA/QC SOPs, work instructions, and related documentation.
Troubleshoot quality and production issues associated with finished products and manufacturing processes.
Establish and implement appropriate quality controls, sampling plans, hold/release procedures, code rotation requirements, batching controls, processing controls, and other production systems as needed.
Evaluate existing quality systems and recommend improvements that increase process reliability, product consistency, and operational efficiency.

Quality Systems, Laboratory & Training Responsibilities

Maintain proficient knowledge of QC work instructions, procedures, testing methods, and calibration requirements for QC instrumentation referenced in the LATICRETE Quality Control Manual.
Ensure laboratory testing and quality data-recording processes are accurate, efficient, standardized, and current across assigned plants.
Lead implementation and sustainment of Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) across regional facilities.
Implement and maintain 5S principles to promote safe, organized, efficient, and standardized laboratory environments.
Lead training and development of QC personnel across assigned facilities, including training on testing methods, QC procedures, documentation, and quality systems.
Lead training of department personnel on QC procedures and update procedures as processes, equipment, specifications, or quality requirements change.
Ensure Certificates of Analysis (CoAs), Safety Data Sheets (SDS), calibration and verification records, and other applicable quality documentation meet ISO 9001 traceability requirements.
Promote consistent QC practices and effective communication of quality standards across all assigned facilities.
Monitor compliance with established specifications, procedures, testing requirements, and documentation standards.

Qualifications & Skills

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical field, or equivalent combination of education, certifications, and experience.
Preferred: 10+ years of Quality Control laboratory experience.
Preferred: 5–10 years of supervisory, management, or leadership experience.
Strong knowledge of laboratory operations, quality systems, manufacturing processes, and continuous improvement methodologies.
Advanced computer and technical skills, including Microsoft Access, Excel, Word, and ACT; experience with ERP systems is a plus.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence teams across multiple facilities.
Ability and willingness to travel approximately 25–50% of the time.
Ability to lift and/or carry a minimum of 50 pounds.
Ability to work effectively in both laboratory and manufacturing environments.
