Full Job Description

Trauma Surgeon

Level I Trauma Center – South Florida

Position Summary

We are seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible Trauma Surgeon with fellowship training in Surgical
Critical Care to join a high-volume, well-established Level I Trauma Center in South Florida. This position
offers a highly rewarding clinical practice with exposure to a broad spectrum of trauma pathology,
including penetrating trauma and complex operative blunt trauma, within a collaborative and well-
supported environment.

Qualifications

MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school
Board Certified or Board Eligible in General Surgery
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Surgical Critical Care
Eligible for or holding an unrestricted Florida medical license
Willingness and ability to provide in-house trauma call coverage
Strong operative and critical care skills
Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented approach to patient care

Clinical Responsibilities

Comprehensive care of trauma patients, including:

o Penetrating trauma (e.g., gunshot wounds, stab wounds)
o Operative and non-operative blunt trauma
o Emergency general surgery as applicable

In-house trauma call coverage at a Level I Trauma Center
Active participation in trauma activations, resuscitations, and operative management
Collaboration with emergency medicine, anesthesia, orthopedics, neurosurgery, and other

subspecialty services

Support & Coverage Model

Robust Advanced Practice Provider (APP) support, including nurse practitioners assisting with

trauma bays, ICU care and floor management.

Dedicated night coverage support
Experienced nursing and ancillary staff supporting high-acuity trauma and critical care care

Academic & Programmatic Opportunities

Teaching and mentorship of surgical residents and APPs
Participation in trauma education, simulation, quality improvement, and research initiatives

Practice Environment

High-volume Level I Trauma Center with strong institutional support
Exposure to a wide range of trauma, including high-acuity penetrating and operative blunt

injuries

Established trauma infrastructure with a focus on quality, performance improvement, and

provider wellness
