Full Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:

The Voter Services Clerk serves as the primary customer service representative for the Seminole County Supervisor of Elections Office. This position is responsible for the accurate maintenance and entry of voter registration information, ensuring the integrity and confidentiality of voter data, and providing essential assistance to voters, including answering inquiries and processing voter-related documents. The Clerk will also be involved in various clerical and administrative tasks associated with voter services, ensuring compliance with applicable state and federal election laws.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Process new voter registrations, updates or changes to existing registrations, vote-by-mail ballot requests, and returns, as well as petition verifications and other voter record-related tasks.
Provide accurate voter registration and election information to the public in person, by phone, or via mail, in accordance with Florida state laws, regulations, and procedures.
Conduct research to resolve issues related to voter registration records, utilizing sources both within the voter database and external government websites or online resources.
Ensure the accuracy and completeness of voter registration records by verifying information.
Validate signatures on candidate and initiative petitions.
Maintain and update street maintenance files to ensure an up-to-date and accurate residential address database for Seminole County.
Perform other duties as needed to support the office’s objectives.

Minimum Qualification (A comparable combination of education, training, and experience may be considered in lieu of the minimum qualifications.)

At least 1 year of clerical and data entry experience (3 years preferred), with a focus on computer usage in a customer service, public service, or office environment.
Strong understanding of federal and Florida election laws, the elections office computerized voter registration system, and relevant data entry procedures (preferred).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly in a business office setting.

Must be a registered voter in the State of Florida.
Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver license.

Education and Experience

High School Diploma or equivalent (Required).

Skills and Abilities

Customer Service Skills – Ability to assist voters in person, over the phone, or via email, ensuring positive interactions and effective communication.
Attention to Detail – Handling voter registration, updating records, and ensuring accuracy in all tasks to avoid errors.
Confidentiality and Discretion – Handling sensitive voter information and election-related data with respect for privacy and security.
Multitasking Abilities – Balancing various tasks, such as answering inquiries, processing voter registrations, and assisting with election-day operations.
Problem-Solving Skills – Ability to resolve voter issues, such as incorrect registration details, discrepancies, or voting eligibility concerns.
Team Collaboration – Ability to work with other office staff and election officials to ensure smooth operations during elections.
Organizational Skills – Maintaining orderly records and efficiently managing time and tasks to meet deadlines, especially around election time.
Bilingual Skills (optional but valuable) – Fluency in multiple languages can be an asset, especially in areas with diverse populations.
