Position Summary
The Director, Pharmacy is responsible for the leadership, administration, and daily practice of pharmacy, including strategic planning, pharmacy operations, pharmaceutical care, clinical and distributive services, financial management, legal and regulatory accountability, and personnel management. The Director plans, coordinates, and evaluates pharmacy activities to support safe, accurate, timely, and effective service delivery.
This position serves as the Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) for the state in which the pharmacy is located and for any additional states requiring that designation. The Director ensures pharmacy services remain compliant with applicable federal and state laws, professional standards, accreditation requirements, and Nufactor policies in each jurisdiction in which the organization is licensed or seeks licensure. The role also provides clinical and operational guidance, maintains quality standards, and develops pharmacy personnel to support continuity of patient care.
Essential Functions and Duties
Pharmacy Operations & Practice Oversight:
- Plan, supervise, coordinate, and evaluate all activities related to the pharmacy's operation and practice.
- Oversee day-to-day pharmacy workflow and direct pharmacists and technicians to ensure work is completed accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with established standards.
- Provide sound clinical and operational judgment and serve as an escalation resource for pharmacy practice, workflow, and patient care matters.
- Support responsible management of pharmacy staffing, inventory, supplies, and other operational resources.
- Perform staff pharmacist duties and participate in the on-call schedule as needed to maintain continuity of pharmacy services.
- Participate in annual and mid-year inventory activities, special projects, and committees as required.
Pharmacist-in-Charge, Licensure & Regulatory Compliance:
- Serve as Pharmacist-in-Charge for the state in which the pharmacy is located and for any other states requiring a Pharmacist-in-Charge designation.
- Maintain all required individual pharmacist licenses and support the timely maintenance of pharmacy licenses and registrations in each state in which Nufactor is licensed or seeks licensure.
- Develop and maintain pharmacy services in accordance with applicable federal and state laws, board of pharmacy requirements, accepted professional standards, and Nufactor policies.
- Monitor relevant legal and regulatory requirements and ensure necessary changes are incorporated into pharmacy practices, procedures, and staff guidance.
- Maintain complete and accurate records required to ensure control and accountability over medications, including controlled substances.
- Submit controlled substance reports and other required pharmacy documentation in accordance with applicable law.
- Maintain pharmacy readiness for licensing reviews, regulatory inspections, and accreditation activities.
Clinical Services, Quality & Accreditation:
- Oversee pharmaceutical care and clinical pharmacy services to promote safe, appropriate, and effective medication use.
- Develop, implement, and maintain a pharmacy quality program that meets applicable Joint Commission, URAC, regulatory agency, and professional practice standards.
- Monitor the quality and consistency of pharmacy services and address identified clinical, operational, or documentation concerns through appropriate follow-up and improvement measures.
- Provide clinical consultation and information regarding medications, services, and patient care to physicians and other healthcare professionals.
- Maintain current knowledge of medications, therapies, common disease states, professional standards, and industry developments through literature review, continuing education, in-services, seminars, and conferences.
- Share relevant clinical and regulatory updates with pharmacy personnel to support consistent practice and ongoing professional development.
Workforce Leadership & Development:
- Supervise pharmacy personnel and serve as a central resource for clinical pharmacy and operational guidance.
- Interview, select, onboard, train, develop, and retain qualified pharmacy employees.
- Plan, assign, and direct work; establish clear duties, goals, and performance expectations aligned with Company objectives; and ensure assigned responsibilities are completed successfully.
- Complete performance evaluations in a timely manner and provide ongoing coaching, recognition, constructive feedback, and corrective guidance, as appropriate.
- Maintain current job descriptions and support employee participation in Company training and professional development programs.
- Address employee concerns, complaints, and performance matters promptly, consistently, and in accordance with Company policies and applicable law.
- Carry out all supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Company policies and applicable employment requirements.

Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
Required Education:
- Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree from a program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE).
Required Knowledge:
- Working knowledge of applicable federal and state pharmacy laws, board of pharmacy requirements, dispensing standards, and professional practice requirements.
- Working knowledge of Joint Commission and URAC standards applicable to pharmacy services.
- Knowledge of pharmacy operations, pharmaceutical care, medication accountability, and controlled substance requirements.
Preferred Knowledge:
- Knowledge of infusion-related medications, supplies, durable medical equipment (DME), and the clinical considerations associated with home infusion therapy.
Preferred Experience:
- Prior experience supporting the treatment and care of patients with hemophilia, immune deficiency, or other specialty conditions.
- Previous pharmacy supervisory or management experience.
- Minimum one (1) year of hospital or infusion-based pharmacy experience, including knowledge of intravenous admixture and/or the clinical components of home infusion therapy.
Required Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to evaluate and resolve complex clinical, operational, and medication-related discrepancies.
- Ability to apply sound professional judgment and make independent, timely decisions in response to changing patient and operational needs.
- Strong organizational, prioritization, and follow-through skills, with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities and frequent interruptions while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with patients, healthcare professionals, teammates, and management.
- Ability to lead and work collaboratively with on-site and remote team members.
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, internet technologies, and standard office equipment, including computers, scanners, printers, copiers, and phones.
- Ability to remain current on medications, therapies, and common disease states treated by Nufactor through continuing education and independent professional development.
- Ability to exercise discretion and maintain patient, employee, and business confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA, Company policy, and applicable law.
Preferred Skills:
- Ability to improve pharmacy workflows and promote consistent, efficient work practices.
- Ability to coach and develop pharmacy personnel while maintaining clear performance expectations and accountability.
Required Professional Certifications & Licensure:
- Full, current, and unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in the state in which the pharmacy is located.
- Ability to serve as the Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) for the resident state and any additional states as directed by management or required by pharmacy law.
- Ability to obtain and maintain pharmacist licensure or reciprocity in all states required to support patient care and strategic business needs.
- Immune Globulin Certified Pharmacist (IgCP) certification must be obtained within two (2) years of employment and maintained in accordance with ongoing certification requirements.
Preferred Professional Certification:
- Certified Specialty Pharmacist (CSP).
Physical Requirements
Vision, hearing, speech, and movements requiring the use of wrists, hands, and/or fingers. Must be able to view a computer screen and sit for extended periods. Must be able to work the hours and days required to perform the essential functions of the position, as scheduled. Must be able to lift and maneuver items weighing at least 50 lbs. Occasional travel is required. Working conditions include normal office, pharmacy, and warehouse environments.
Mental Demands
The position requires learning, critical thinking, concentration, sound judgment, and the ability to work effectively under pressure, particularly during busy periods or when responding to patient care and pharmacy operational needs. The incumbent must pay close attention to detail, prioritize competing responsibilities, interact effectively with co-workers and customers, exercise self-control and diplomacy in sensitive situations, maintain appropriate discretion, and take a proactive approach to identifying and resolving problems.
