Position Description:
We are seeking an experienced Senior AI Engineer to join our strategic Generative AI initiative supporting one of our largest financial services clients. This is a hands on engineering role where you'll design, build, and deploy scalable AI solutions that automate critical business processes using Large Language Models (LLMs), Agentic AI, and modern cloud technologies.
You'll work at the intersection of software engineering and artificial intelligence, collaborating with architects, product owners, and business stakeholders to develop AI agents that solve complex business challenges. This role emphasizes delivering production ready applications rather than proof of concepts, with a focus on rapid deployment and continuous improvement in an enterprise environment.
We partner with 15 of the top 20 banks globally, and our top 10 banking clients have worked with us for an average of 26 years!. This role is located at a client site in either Lafayette, LA, Knoxville, TN, Birmingham, AL or Columbia, SC. A hybrid working model is acceptable.
Your future duties and responsibilities:

You'll work at the intersection of software engineering and artificial intelligence, collaborating with architects, product owners, and business stakeholders to develop AI agents that solve complex business challenges. This role emphasizes delivering production ready applications rather than proof of concepts, with a focus on rapid deployment and continuous improvement in an enterprise environment.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
. Design and develop enterprise grade AI applications using Python and AWS cloud services
. Build and optimize AI agents and intelligent workflows to automate business processes
. Develop and maintain Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) solutions leveraging enterprise knowledge sources
. Design, develop, and integrate REST APIs and microservices that support AI applications
. Create scalable, secure, and reliable AI services ready for production environments
. Optimize prompts, workflows, and AI model performance to ensure accuracy and efficiency at scale
. Integrate AI solutions with existing enterprise applications, APIs, and cloud infrastructure
. Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews, and technical design sessions
. Identify and troubleshoot production issues, driving continuous improvements to application performance
. Collaborate with cross functional teams in an Agile environment to deliver AI solutions on aggressive timelines
Required qualifications to be successful in this role
. Software Engineering & Development 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with a track record of delivering production grade applications Advanced proficiency in Python, with expertise in writing clean, maintainable, and well tested code Strong object oriented programming principles and design patterns Proven experience designing and building REST APIs Solid understanding of Git version control and collaborative workflows Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks Strong analytical and problem solving abilities, with excellent debugging skills
. Generative AI & Large Language Models Hands on experience building and deploying production applications using Large Language Models (LLMs) Practical knowledge of Agentic AI and AI Agent development patterns Competency in prompt engineering and optimization techniques Experience implementing Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures Understanding of tool and function calling within LLM applications Familiarity with structured outputs and data validation in AI systems Experience working with vector databases and semantic search implementations Demonstrated ability to deploy and support AI applications in production environments
. Cloud Infrastructure & AWS Services Proficiency with Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud platform Experience with AWS Lambda, API Gateway, and ECS/EKS container orchestration Familiarity with AWS Step Functions for workflow orchestration Knowledge of AWS data services including DynamoDB and OpenSearch Experience with event driven architecture using EventBridge, SQS, and SNS Understanding of CloudWatch for monitoring and observability Knowledge of AWS IAM for security and access management
. Enterprise Development Practices Understanding of microservices architecture and design principles Experience with event driven system design and implementation Ability to integrate with complex enterprise APIs and systems Knowledge of secure software development practices and principles Experience implementing production monitoring, logging, and observability solutions
Desired Skillset:
. Amazon Bedrock and related AWS AI services
. LLM frameworks and orchestration tools (LangChain, LangGraph, CrewAI, AutoGen, Semantic Kernel)

Education:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Data Science, or a related technical discipline.

The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and licensure and certifications. To support the ability to reward for merit based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $123,200.00 $156,700.00.
