Full Job Description

Overview
Join our dynamic manufacturing team as a Lathe Machinist on the first shift, where your precision and technical expertise will drive the production of high-quality components. In this role, you will operate and set up CNC lathe machines, interpret complex blueprints, and utilize advanced measurement tools to ensure every part meets exact specifications. Your mechanical knowledge and attention to detail will contribute to our commitment to manufacturing excellence and continuous improvement. This is an exciting opportunity for motivated individuals eager to develop their skills in a fast-paced, safety-focused environment.

Responsibilities

Operate CNC lathe machines, including Fanuc-controlled equipment, to produce precision parts according to detailed blueprints and specifications
Set up machines by installing tooling, adjusting parameters, and verifying calibration with precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines
Program CNC lathes using G-code and CAM programming software to optimize machining processes and improve efficiency
Read and interpret GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) on blueprints to ensure parts meet strict quality standards. Familiar with Fanuc controls
Conduct routine maintenance on machinery and troubleshoot issues promptly to minimize downtime
Utilize hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment like electrical discharge machining (EDM) for complex or custom tasks
Maintain accurate documentation of production activities, inspections, and quality checks in compliance with safety protocols and lean manufacturing principles

Experience

Proven experience operating CNC lathes or CNC milling machines in a manufacturing setting, preferably with Fanuc controls
Strong mechanical aptitude with knowledge of machining processes, tooling selection, and fixture setup
Familiarity with blueprint reading, GD&T standards, and the use of precision measurement instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines
CNC vertical and horizontal lathe set up machinist
3 years minimum experience
Basic math skills for calculating dimensions, tolerances, and machine adjustments
Knowledge of manufacturing environments involving plastics injection molding or welding is a plus but not required
Ability to work safely with hand tools, power tools, forklifts (training provided if necessary), and other shop equipment
Willing to work overtime and occasional weekends
