IBEMED is seeking motivated individuals to join its Medical Psychology Residency Program as Pre-Doctoral or Postdoctoral Psychological Associates. Candidates may be pre-doctoral Psy.D. or Ph.D. students completing their final-year supervised training hours, or postdoctoral candidates who have completed their doctoral degree and are seeking postdoctoral supervised hours.
IBEMED provides integrated medical psychology services across Southern California and offers one of the few structured Medical Psychology Residency Programs in the country. This in-person, outpatient role provides intensive training in medical psychology within multidisciplinary medical clinics throughout Southern California.
Key Qualifications
Education
Enrollment in, candidacy for, or completion of a California license-eligible Psy.D. or Ph.D. program in Psychology. Pre-doctoral candidates should be in the final year of their program and eligible to complete supervised pre-doctoral training hours. Postdoctoral candidates must have completed their doctoral degree and be seeking supervised postdoctoral hours.
Clinical Experience
Demonstrated clinical experience in mental health assessment, intervention, documentation, and patient care. Experience in integrated care, behavioral medicine, health psychology, or multidisciplinary medical settings is preferred.
Career Interest
Strong interest in developing a long-term career in medical psychology, behavioral medicine, integrated care, or health service psychology.

Ability to work independently while functioning effectively as part of a multidisciplinary clinical team. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including clear clinical documentation and professional collaboration.

Commitment to ethical practice, supervised clinical training, cultural responsiveness, and ongoing professional development.
Core Responsibilities
- Provide individual psychotherapy to outpatient clients using evidence-based clinical approaches.
- Administer, score, and interpret psychometric assessments as clinically indicated and within scope of training and supervision.
- Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation, including progress notes for each patient session.
- Participate in structured residency training, including twice-weekly didactic sessions.
- Attend weekly individual clinical supervision and apply supervisory feedback to clinical practice.
- Travel to one designated outpatient clinic per workday; clinic assignments are based on patient and program needs.
Residency Training Topics
Residents receive structured didactic training in ethics and law, evidence-based therapeutic approaches, neurocognitive evaluations, neuroscience, diagnostics, physiology, pathophysiology, pharmacology, psychopharmacology, and research.

Travel Expectations
This is an in-person outpatient position with a current weekly clinic rotation across Southern California. Clinic assignments may change based on patient needs, program needs, and site coverage requirements. Candidates must be able to travel reliably to assigned clinic locations across Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, and San Bernardino counties.
