Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and highly skilled Jewelry CAD Manager to lead our jewelry design and manufacturing team through the innovative use of computer-aided design (CAD) technology. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the development of detailed 3D models and technical drawings for jewelry pieces, ensuring precision, creativity, and efficiency throughout the product lifecycle. Your expertise will drive the translation of artistic concepts into stunning, manufacturable designs that meet our high standards for quality and aesthetic appeal. This position offers an exciting opportunity to influence the future of jewelry design by combining artistic vision with cutting-edge digital tools.

Duties

Lead and manage the jewelry CAD team to develop accurate 3D models, renderings, and technical specifications for new collections and custom designs
Collaborate closely with designers, gemologists, and production teams to ensure seamless communication of design intent and technical feasibility
Oversee the creation of detailed CAD files using industry-standard software such as Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, and specialized CAD programs tailored for jewelry design
Maintain high standards of quality control by reviewing all CAD outputs for accuracy, craftsmanship, and manufacturability
Implement best practices in CAD workflows, including version control, file organization, and process optimization to enhance productivity
Stay current with emerging trends in jewelry design technology, including 3D modeling software and product lifecycle management tools
Provide training and mentorship to junior designers on CAD techniques, graphic illustration, color theory, and artistic concept development
Coordinate cross-functional communication between design teams, manufacturing partners, and retail stakeholders to ensure project alignment from concept to production

Requirements

Proven experience managing a jewelry CAD team or equivalent leadership role within a jewelry or luxury accessories environment
Extensive proficiency in CAD software specific to jewelry design (such as RhinoGold, MatrixGold) as well as graphic design software including Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop)
Strong skills in design sketching, vector illustration, graphic design illustration, and digital rendering techniques
Knowledge of textiles in industrial design and garment construction is a plus for understanding material application in jewelry pieces
Familiarity with fashion design principles, fashion retail trends, and merchandising strategies to create relevant collections
Ability to communicate effectively across cross-functional teams including designers, artisans, marketing staff, and production managers
Artistic concept development skills with an eye for color theory and aesthetic harmony in jewelry collections
Experience with 3D modeling software and product lifecycle management systems used in manufacturing environments
Background in professional art or design disciplines with a portfolio demonstrating creativity in jewelry or related fields
Additional skills such as sewing machine operation or theater experience can be advantageous for creative storytelling or presentation purposes
