Summary
The Director of Administration & Finance will strengthen the internal foundation of Blue Ridge Hope during a period of strategic growth. Working in close partnership with the Executive Director, this full-time role manages and aligns the organization’s financial operations and human resources infrastructure.By moving Blue Ridge Hope from reactive to proactive administration, this role ensures that our clinical team and youth mentors are structurally supported, compliance-ready, and insulated from burnout as they deliver life-changing care across Western North Carolina.
Responsibilities
Proactive Financial Management & Stewardship (approx. 50%)
- System Enhancement: Upgrade and manage the organization’s accounting systems to handle a $1.15M+ operating budget.
- Cash-Flow & Forecasting: Oversee cash-flow forecasting and budget management tailored to a high-volume fee-for-service (80%) and sliding-scale model.
- Audit Readiness: Establish rigorous internal controls to ensure the organization is completely audit-ready and compliant with all foundation and private grant parameters.
- Financial & Revenue Operations: Track and analyze incoming billing data, client collections, and fee structures to optimize cash flow and maintain sustainable revenue.
- Payroll Administration: Process weekly (contract employees) and bi-weekly payroll through Gusto with responsibility for entering hours of some employees, payroll deductions, and the alike.
Person-Centered Human Resources & Culture (approx. 40%)
- Personnel Infrastructure: Manage HR operations for a dynamic team of 35+ employees and clinicians. Develop, implement, and maintain equitable personnel policies.
- Onboarding & Technology: Build out and oversee a formalized staff onboarding process.
- Staff Wellness & Retention: Administer the professional development and employee wellness fund (including BlueCross wellness initiatives) to directly combat turnover and clinical burnout.
- Clinical Support Coordination: Coordinate logistically with the Lead Clinicians regarding supervision tracking, licensure support, and continuing education funds.
- Benefits Administration: Research benefits through Gusto and determine the best option to offer annually for the organization.
- Conflict Resolution: Serve as the main support and contact for issues between staff including resolving issues as they arise.
- Annual Review Process: Manage and administer annual review process for the organization including holding supervisors accountable for getting reviews done annually and on the agreed upon schedule.
General Operations & Grant Compliance (approx. 10%)
- Data & CRM Systems: Support the roll-out of new operational technologies, including the procurement and optimization of a new donor CRM system.
- Inter-Program Collaboration: Bridge communication and administrative workflows between clinical mental health services and the HOPEworks youth development program.
- Onsite: This position is onsite 90% of the time or more
- Other Duties: From time to time you will be asked and are expected to do other duties as assigned from the Executive Director, Assistant Executive Director, or Board of Directors
Qualifications and Required Skills
- Financial Acumen: Deep familiarity with non-profit accounting principles, managing budgets over $1M , tracking diverse funding streams (fee-for-service vs. grants) , and leading audit preparations.
- HR Knowledge: Hands-on experience building personnel policies, handling compliance, and managing onboarding workflows for a mid-sized team (30+ employees).
- Technical Savvy: Experience with online learning management platforms, financial software, and donor CRM tools is a major plus.
- Mission Alignment: A deep commitment to health equity, trauma-informed principles, and serving rural and urban communities in Western North Carolina.
Preferred Experience
- 5+ years of blended operations, financial management, and/or HR leadership.
- Non-profit experience is highly preferred, specifically within a community health, mental health, or sliding-scale clinical environment.
- Experience using Gusto for payroll, onboarding, and other functions
- Experience working with Quickbooks Online and ability to pull necessary reports
- Experience working with multiple levels of staff and promoting a positive environment for others to be a part of
Preferred Education
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field required

Competitive Salary and Benefits
- Blue Ridge Hope offers a competitive salary and benefits for this position based on market conditions
Pay: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
