Position Summary
Infinity Technical Services Division, Inc. is seeking an experienced Circuit Breaker Reconditioning & Shop Technician for our new service facility in Spartanburg, SC. This is a hands-on technical position responsible for inspecting, troubleshooting, reconditioning, rebuilding, and testing electrical circuit breakers and related equipment. The successful candidate will also support the daily operation of the service shop, including shipping, receiving, material handling, equipment organization, and opening and closing the facility.
Qualifications & Requirements
Must be at least 18 years of age
High school diploma or GED preferred.
Previous hands-on experience reconditioning, repairing, or rebuilding electrical circuit breakers or similar power distribution equipment.
Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
Ability to safely operate basic shop equipment and tools.
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage daily responsibilities.
Previous shop, warehouse, maintenance, or mechanical experience preferred but not required.
Primary Responsibilities:
Circuit Breaker Reconditioning and Testing
Inspect, troubleshoot, disassemble, clean, repair, reassemble, adjust, and test electrical circuit breakers.
Evaluate breaker mechanisms, electrical controls, wiring, trip systems, contacts, interlocks, and mechanical components.
Diagnose electrical-control and mechanical-operating problems.
Determine required repairs, replacement parts, adjustments, and additional testing.
Safely operate parts tumblers, sandblasting equipment, cleaning equipment, hand tools, power tools, and other shop machinery.
Operate primary current injection test equipment.
Operate secondary injection test equipment for electronic trip units and protective devices.
Verify electrical and mechanical performance after reconditioning or repair.
Accurately document equipment condition, work performed, replacement parts, adjustments, and final test results.
Maintain an orderly process for identifying and tracking customer equipment, components, and parts throughout the service process, including receipt of equipment documentation with photos, creating detailed recommendations for repairs, and final QC documents.
Service Shop Operations
Serve as the primary daily shop contact and reliably open and close the facility Monday through Friday.
Perform shipping and receiving activities for customer equipment, repair parts, test equipment, tools, and other materials.
Inspect incoming shipments and verify equipment identification, condition, quantities, and documentation.
Prepare completed equipment for safe packaging, shipment, delivery, or customer pickup.
Operate a forklift and other appropriate material-handling equipment.
Maintain an organized, clean, safe, and professional service-shop environment.
Help manage shop supplies, replacement parts, consumables, tools, and test equipment.
Coordinate equipment status and priorities with project managers, technicians, customers, and company leadership.
Field Support
This position is on-site Monday through Friday. Occasional field assignments may be required to support larger customer projects.
Willingness and ability to travel to customer locations when additional technical support is needed for larger projects and occasional field assignments.
Assist with circuit-breaker testing, troubleshooting, maintenance, repair, replacement, and startup activities in the field.
Follow the same safety, technical-quality, documentation, and customer-service expectations required of Infinity TSD field technicians.
Work effectively with customers, contractors, OEM representatives, and other field personnel.
Strong mechanical aptitude and demonstrated ability to disassemble and rebuild complex mechanical and electrical assemblies.
Experience troubleshooting circuit-breaker mechanisms, electrical controls, trip systems, wiring, interlocks, and related components.
Experience using current primary injections and secondary injection test equipment.
Ability to safely operate tumblers, sandblasting equipment, power tools, shop machinery, and material-handling equipment.
Ability to operate a forklift safely.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to maintain accurate equipment identification, service records, and test documentation.
Dependability and availability to work on-site Monday through Friday and provide consistent daily shop coverage.
Commitment to safe work practices, technical quality, and professional customer service.
Familiar with PC software including Power DB test reporting software, Microsoft Office, and various OEM testing software tools.
Preferred Qualifications
PEARL certification or experience working for a PEARL-certified electrical equipment reconditioning company.
Experience with multiple manufacturers and types of low- and medium-voltage circuit breakers.
Familiarity with industry practices and standards for electrical equipment inspection, reconditioning, repair, and testing.
Experience with electrical testing, commissioning, preventive maintenance, or field-service work.
Forklift certification.
Experience pulling trailers for pickup and delivery of materials from customer sites.
Experience with inventory control, shipping, receiving, or service-shop coordination.
