Senior Bridal Tailor / Master Seamstress – Advanced Alterations

Willowbrook Tailoring is seeking an experienced Senior Tailor/Master Seamstress with extensive bridal alteration experience to join our busy, established alteration shop in Willowbrook, Illinois.

This position is not entry level. We are looking for a highly skilled professional who can confidently perform complex alterations with minimal supervision and provide exceptional customer fittings.

Compensation

Starting at $22 per hour, with higher pay available based on experience, skill level, and the ability to perform advanced bridal alterations and fittings independently.

What You'll Do

Perform expert alterations on bridal gowns, bridesmaid dresses, mother-of-the-bride dresses, prom gowns, and formalwear
Complete complex alterations including bodice reconstruction, taking gowns in or letting them out, bustle creation, hem reshaping, sleeve and strap modifications, corset adjustments, lace and beadwork, and delicate fabric repairs
Tailor men's suits, jackets, slacks, and other garments to a high professional standard
Conduct customer fittings, pin garments accurately, and determine the best alteration solutions
Work independently while maintaining exceptional quality and meeting deadlines
Ensure every garment leaves the shop with impeccable craftsmanship

Required Qualifications

Minimum 5 years of professional tailoring/alteration experience
Extensive bridal gown alteration experience is required
Proven ability to perform advanced alterations without supervision
Strong understanding of garment construction, pattern adjustments, and fit
Experience working with lace, silk, satin, tulle, chiffon, beading, and other delicate fabrics
Excellent fitting and pinning skills
Exceptional attention to detail and pride in craftsmanship
Professional, dependable, and customer-focused
