Tax Manager

Rockwall, TX

$125,000 to $150,000

A genuine path to Partner. Not vague succession talk. Something you can actually see.

Most Tax Managers have had the Partner conversation at least once.

Usually, it comes up in an annual review. Sometimes it appears when you start asking bigger questions about your future. It often sounds something like, “we absolutely see that for you,” followed by very little detail about what that actually means, when it might happen, or what you would need to do to get there.

After hearing that a couple of times, you stop taking it at face value.

So when a firm says the path to Partner is clearly defined and discussed openly from day one, it is fair to want more than just reassurance.

This independent CPA firm in Rockwall, TX is hiring a Tax Manager with a mapped out route to Partner and equity that is discussed properly from the beginning.

Not floated later as a retention tool. Not left deliberately vague so it can mean whatever is convenient at the time. The owner is directly involved, the future of the firm is something you would genuinely help shape, and the next step has real structure around it rather than just good intentions.

For someone who is doing well where they are, but quietly wondering what all of it is actually leading to, that kind of clarity is worth a lot.

The day to day work is advisory led, with an established and loyal client base. You are not walking into a firm built around volume and throughput. The client relationships are real, the technical work is genuinely interesting, and the people above you are accessible rather than distant.

Summer is also the right time to make this kind of move. You can settle in properly, get to know the clients and the team, and build momentum before the 9/15 and 10/15 deadlines arrive. That is a much better start than landing in the middle of busy season and trying to figure everything out under pressure.

What you will be doing

Reviewing complex tax work across individuals, partnerships, S Corps, C Corps, and trusts.

Managing workflow and maintaining strong standards across the team.

Developing staff and supporting their progression over time.

Building and strengthening client relationships throughout the year.

Supporting advisory work across an established client base.

Getting genuine exposure to the wider running of the firm and where it is heading.

Strong public accounting experience at Manager level.

Confidence reviewing complex returns across a range of entity types.

Someone who enjoys developing people and taking real ownership of workflow.

A genuine interest in advisory work and building lasting client relationships.

Someone looking for a longer term move with an honest and visible route to Partner.

CPA or EA preferred.
