Job Summary | Position Overview
We're looking for an energetic, personable, and self-motivated Fitness Instructor with experience in corporate wellness or employee wellness to join our Broward County, FL team.
In this role, you'll help employees by leading safe, engaging, and effective group fitness classes that promote health, wellness, and an exceptional participant experience. This role motivates individuals of varying fitness levels, provides instruction on proper exercise techniques, and fosters a welcoming, inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities | What You'll Do
- Lead group fitness classes
- Demonstrate proper exercise techniques and safety protocols to participants
- Assist employees with exercise technique and equipment use
- Monitor and assess participants’ fitness levels and provide modifications as necessary
- Create a positive and energetic atmosphere that encourages participation and camaraderie
- Update Choreography monthly, choose appropriate music, and choose different movements depending on participants' capabilities and limitations
- Demonstrate attentive listening by understanding others, asking thoughtful questions, and responding without interrupting
- Build positive relationships with members and participants to create a welcoming experience and encourage continued participation
- Stay updated on current fitness trends and techniques through continuous education and training
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of workout spaces and equipment.
- Inspect equipment for problems or defects
- Maintain current fitness certifications and CPR/AED credentials
- Attend all live/ virtual staff meetings and contribute ideas for class and program enhancements.
Minimum Qualifications | What We're Looking For
- Current nationally recognized Fitness Certification (e.g. ACE, NASM, ISSA or equivalent)
- Certification: Mat Pilates, Zumba, Yoga, HIIT, Boot Camp, Boxing, Kickboxing, Spin
- Certification: Personal Training
- Current CPR/AED Certification
- Experience leading group fitness classes or personal training sessions
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Comfortable speaking to small and large groups
- Ability to motivate individuals with diverse fitness levels
- Reliable transportation and punctuality
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Preferred Qualifications
- Group Fitness Certification
- Personal Training Certification
- Wellness Coach Certification
- SilverSneakers or Adult Fitness Certification
- Corrective Exercise Certification
- Experience leading group fitness classes or personal training in indoor and outdoor settings
- Strong knowledge of exercise science and fitness principles
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
- Experience working in corporate wellness
Professional Expectations
- Arrive at least 15 minutes before scheduled classes
- Dress professionally in Glad Health & Fitness-approved attire
- Maintain a positive, encouraging, and professional attitude
- Deliver high-quality fitness instruction
- Communicate schedule conflicts promptly
- Maintain current certifications throughout the contract period
- Represent Glad Health & Fitness with professionalism while on-site
- Conduct visual inspections of equipment before use.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe workout areas.
- Report damaged equipment or safety concerns promptly.
- Attend all Glad Health & Fitness Trainings, Meetings, and Events
Physical Requirements
- Lead active group fitness sessions for extended periods
- Stand, walk, bend, squat, kneel, reach, push, and pull throughout classes
- Ability to demonstrate exercises safely
- Ability to lift and move fitness equipment as needed
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Ability to lead active group exercise sessions
- Complete daily attendance and participation tracking.
- Submit required reports and documentation by established deadlines.
- Maintain participant confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
- Frequently lift and move fitness equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
- Bend, squat, kneel, and reach
- Demonstrate proper exercise techniques
- Push and pull portable fitness equipment
- Work indoors and outdoors when required
- Maintain fitness equipment and ensure exercise areas remain clean, safe, and organized.
- Report equipment issues or safety concerns promptly.
- Assist with scheduling employees for fitness assessments and coaching appointments
- Assist with setting up and breaking down portable fitness equipment
- Physically move and rearrange office furniture for class/ session setup and reset the room furniture in the proper place after the class/session
Technology Requirements
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Ability to operate Zoom videoconferencing
- Ability to operate Email software
- Ability to operate Google Workspace platform
- Basic computer and tablet proficiency

Safety Responsibilities
- Follow all Glad Health & Fitness Policies, Procedures, and Code of Conduct
- Respond appropriately to medical emergencies within CPR/AED certification scope
- Conduct pre-exercise screening and identify contraindications to exercise
- Maintain a safe exercise environment for all participants
- Report incidents promptly
- Conduct visual inspections of equipment before use.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe workout areas.
- Report damaged equipment or safety concerns promptly.
Independent Contractor Relationship
This opportunity is offered on an Independent Contractor (1099) basis.
Independent Contractors are responsible for maintaining:
- Required certifications and licenses
- Professional liability insurance
- Personal tax obligations
- Transportation
- Personal fitness equipment unless otherwise provided
- Any other obligations associated with operating as an independent business

Insurance Requirements
Independent Contractors may be required to maintain professional liability insurance and provide proof of coverage before providing services.
