Full Job Description

Carolina Foods, the maker of Duchess Brand snacks and the creator of one of America’s first Honey Buns, has been delivering quality and innovation for over 80 years. As a leading manufacturer of sweet baked goods, including honey buns, baked pies, fried pies, and gem donuts, we are entering an exciting phase of growth and expansion.

Basic Function: Responsible for the safe maintenance, repair or replacement of plant equipment and systems, to ensure maximum production quantity and quality, while supporting the policies, goals and objectives of the company.

MAINTENANCE MANAGER

Directs and coordinates the activities of maintenance supervisors and technicians engaged in repair, maintenance, and installation of equipment used in the production process. This role will oversee the maintenance of buildings, and utility systems of the factory and the warehouse/distribution center. This role will also be responsible for increasing the reliability of all manufacturing equipment, processes, utilities, controls and safety/security systems.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:

Schedules repairs, maintenance, installation and modifications of machines to ensure minimal downtime and maximum operating efficiency.
Supports and drives the preventative/predictive maintenance programs through the use of the engineering and maintenance staff.
Responsible for an effective maintenance parts & supplies procurement and inventory program that meets reliability and cost objectives
Reviews production, quality, and maintenance reports and statistics to plan and improve maintenance department activities
Implements/enforces all OSHA,SQF and GMP policies and procedures to comply with the industry and company requirements.
Develops a training and skill enhancement program for new and existing technicians

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

Experience implementing and maintaining equipment maintenance & reliability programs
Cross functional team experience
Understanding of TPM, RCM or other world class maintenance and reliability strategies
Good interpersonal & communication skills; able to communicate internally and externally at all levels of the organization
Background in mechanical systems, electrical systems, process controls, PLC troubleshooting as well as broad understanding of structural, electrical and mechanical engineering concepts as they relate to plant maintenance
Experience in managing departmental budget and monitoring expenditures
Knowledge of GMP,FDA,EPA,OSHA rules and regulation
Advanced computer skills and the ability to learn new complex applications
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or GED with over 15 years of technical leadership experience in a manufacturing environment

Bachelor’s degree ( B.S.) in Mechanical or Electrical or Engineering, minimum 10 years’ experience required in a technical management role

Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 12 years’ experience
Supervisory experience
Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
Ability to work flexible hours

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience working in an SQF or BRC facility
Experience in a Food Processing
Knowledge of OSHA Regulations
Knowledge of facility equipment (e.g. boilers, chillers, air compressors, refrigeration, forklifts etc.
Experience managing maintenance in a 24/7 manufacturing operation
Experience in Computerized maintenance Management Systems ( CMMS)
Must have strong expertise in mechanical systems such as; pumps, drives and gear boxes, hydraulics, pneumatics, fryers, ovens and extruders, conveyor belts, piping, and other power transmission components.
