We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Estimator specializing in Heavy Civil Sitework and Underground Utilities to join our dynamic construction team. In this pivotal role, you will lead the development of accurate, comprehensive cost estimates for complex civil projects, ensuring competitive pricing while maintaining profitability. Your expertise will drive project success from initial bidding through to project delivery, collaborating closely with project managers, clients, and subcontractors. This position offers an exciting opportunity to influence large-scale infrastructure projects and contribute to innovative civil construction solutions.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in construction estimating and project management, with an ability to analyze costs and negotiate effectively. This role is crucial in ensuring that projects are completed within budget while maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency. The Estimator will collaborate closely with office staff, clients, and subcontractors to deliver accurate estimates that drive project success.

Responsibilities

Prepare detailed and precise cost estimates for heavy civil sitework and underground utility projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
Review project plans, specifications, and contract documents thoroughly to identify scope requirements and potential risks.
Utilize estimating software such as HeavyBid and Bluebeam to develop accurate bids efficiently.
Conduct negotiations with subcontractors and suppliers to secure favorable pricing and terms that align with project budgets.
Collaborate with project management teams to develop project schedules, budgets, and cost control strategies.
Assist in the review and analysis of contracts to ensure scope compliance and risk mitigation.
Monitor ongoing project costs and provide updates to ensure projects stay within budget; implement corrective actions as needed.
Lead bid presentations and communicate estimates clearly to internal stakeholders and clients.

Qualifications

Proven experience in heavy civil construction estimating, with a focus on sitework and underground utilities.
Strong proficiency in construction estimating software such as HeavyBid; experience with Bluebeam is highly desirable.
Demonstrated ability in negotiation, cost control, pricing strategies, and contract management.
Solid understanding of construction site operations, safety standards, and project management principles.
Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail in reviewing plans, specifications, and bid documents.
Effective communication skills to collaborate across teams and present complex estimates confidently.
Construction site experience is preferred to better understand field conditions impacting estimates.
