We are building distinctive, personality-driven brands designed to stand out on the shelf, online, and in consumers’ everyday lives. Our team works across content, social media, influencer marketing, retail, partnerships, events, and brand development to introduce our products to new audiences and build lasting communities around them.
We are looking for a creative, organized, and proactive intern to support our Social Media & Community Manager and help bring our brands to life across digital platforms and in-person experiences.
About the Role
The Social Media & Brand Marketing Intern will primarily support the day-to-day development and execution of social media and content for Chici Mama and Cheap Treats.
Working closely with the Social Media & Community Manager, the intern will help brainstorm, capture, edit, organize, and publish content across social platforms. They will also assist with community engagement, influencer and creator partnerships, product sampling, retail and community activations, and other brand-building initiatives.
Because Mt Mitchell Foods is a growing company, this role may also support additional marketing projects and company functions as needed. This is a hands-on internship for someone who wants exposure to multiple areas of consumer brand marketing while developing meaningful creative and professional experience.
What You’ll DoSocial Media and Content Creation
- Support the planning and execution of social media content for Chici Mama and Cheap Treats
- Brainstorm creative concepts for Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, YouTube Shorts, LinkedIn, and other platforms
- Capture short-form videos, product photography, behind-the-scenes footage, lifestyle content, and event content
- Edit videos for Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, Stories, and other digital placements
- Create social graphics, story slides, basic branded assets, and other visual content
- Assist with writing captions, hooks, video scripts, on-screen copy, and calls to action
- Help maintain and organize social media calendars, content schedules, and creative assets
- Adapt content ideas and formats for different platforms and brand audiences
- Assist with preparing, scheduling, and publishing approved social content
- Monitor platform trends, popular sounds, cultural moments, and emerging content formats
- Identify relevant opportunities for the brands to participate in online conversations and trends
- Assist during planned content shoots and help coordinate products, props, shot lists, and other production needs
Community and Influencer Marketing
- Monitor and help respond to comments, mentions, tags, and direct messages across brand accounts
- Engage with customers, followers, creators, retailers, and relevant community accounts
- Identify user-generated content and help organize permissions, reposting, and future usage
- Research influencers and creators who align with each brand’s identity and target audience
- Assist with influencer and creator outreach, product seeding, communication, and follow-ups
- Help coordinate campaign timelines, content expectations, product shipments, and posting schedules
- Maintain organized creator lists and track outreach, responses, content links, deliverables, and campaign activity
- Identify potential brand ambassadors, community partners, and organic content opportunities
Sampling, Activations, and Brand Support
- Assist with product sampling programs, local events, retail activations, community partnerships, and promotional initiatives
- Help prepare products, signage, supplies, displays, and promotional materials for activations
- Represent Chici Mama and Cheap Treats at sampling events and engage with consumers in a friendly, professional manner
- Capture photo and video content during events and activations
- Help gather consumer feedback and identify useful insights from sampling experiences
- Assist with organizing and distributing products for creators, partners, events, and promotional opportunities
- Support retail launches and other brand initiatives as assigned
- Provide general support for marketing projects and other company functions as needed
What We’re Looking For
- Current college student, recent graduate, or early-career candidate studying or interested in marketing, communications, advertising, public relations, digital media, content creation, or a related field
- Strong understanding of Instagram, TikTok, and current social media culture
- Genuine interest in content creation, influencer marketing, community building, consumer brands, food, and lifestyle
- Creative thinker who enjoys contributing ideas and experimenting with new content formats
- Comfortable capturing and editing short-form video content
- Strong written communication skills and attention to detail
- Organized, dependable, and able to manage multiple assignments and deadlines
- Willing to take initiative, ask questions, and receive constructive feedback
- Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively in a fast-moving environment
- Comfortable appearing in brand content when appropriate
- Comfortable interacting with consumers and representing the brands at events or sampling activations
- Available to occasionally support events or activations outside of standard office hours
- Familiarity with Canva, CapCut, Adobe Creative Suite, Google Workspace, or similar platforms is a plus
- Previous social media, photography, videography, editing, influencer outreach, event, or customer-facing experience is helpful but not required
