LB Structural Engineering is a rapidly growing structural engineering firm based in Fort Myers, Florida. We provide structural engineering services throughout Florida, delivering innovative, practical, and code-compliant solutions for commercial, residential, industrial, and municipal projects.
As our firm continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced Structural Drafter – Revit Modeler & BIM Specialistto join our team. This position is focused on developing high-quality 3D structural models and construction documents using Autodesk Revit while collaborating closely with our structural engineers, architects, and project teams.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and passionate about Building Information Modeling (BIM). This is significantly more than a traditional drafting role. We are looking for someone who can create intelligent 3D models, improve BIM workflows, and contribute to the continued growth of our engineering team.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop highly accurate 3D structural models using Autodesk Revit.
- Produce complete structural construction documents from Revit models.
- Model structural steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, wood framing, cold-formed steel, foundations, and miscellaneous structural components.
- Prepare structural plans, elevations, sections, schedules, and detailed construction drawings.
- Coordinate BIM models with architects, MEP consultants, contractors, and internal engineering teams.
- Assist with clash detection and multidisciplinary model coordination.
- Create and maintain Revit families, templates, and company BIM standards.
- Revise drawings and models throughout the design and construction process.
- Ensure all drawings and models comply with the Florida Building Code, ASCE 7, IBC, and applicable engineering standards.
- Work directly with licensed structural engineers to efficiently move projects from concept through construction.
- Manage multiple projects while maintaining exceptional quality and attention to detail.
- Continuously look for opportunities to improve drafting standards, BIM workflows, and production efficiency.
QualificationsRequired
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience using Autodesk Revit.
- Advanced proficiency with Autodesk Revit.
- Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD.
- Proficiency with Bluebeam Revu.
- Experience creating detailed structural BIM models and construction documents.
- Ability to read and interpret structural engineering drawings and specifications.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate work.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and within a collaborative team environment.
- Valid driver's license.
Preferred
- 5+ years of structural drafting or BIM experience.
- Experience with Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) or BIM 360.
- Experience using Navisworks for model coordination.
- Experience with Dynamo or Revit automation tools.
- Experience creating custom Revit families and templates.
- Prior experience working for a structural engineering consulting firm.
