Location: Multi-site leadership role supporting the Regional Cancer Center, Bonita Health Center, and future Cape Coral Cancer Center (opening September 2027)

Lead the Future of Oncology Care at Lee Health

Lee Health is seeking an experienced and strategic Manager, Outpatient Oncology to lead the operational success of our growing outpatient oncology services. This is an outstanding opportunity for a proven healthcare leader who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and is passionate about delivering an exceptional patient experience.

As our oncology program continues to expand, we are looking for a leader who brings strong healthcare leadership experience, expertise in insurance authorizations and reimbursement processes, and the ability to develop high-performing teams across multiple locations.

This position plays a critical role in supporting patient access, financial clearance, scheduling operations, and reimbursement services while partnering closely with clinical and administrative leaders to ensure seamless care delivery.

What You'll Do

As the Manager, Outpatient Oncology, you will:

Provide operational leadership for a team of approximately 14 employees, including Customer Service Representatives, Schedulers, Reimbursement Specialists, Prior Authorization Specialists, and Financial Navigators.
Lead, coach, mentor, and develop staff while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and service excellence.
Oversee daily operations across multiple outpatient oncology locations.
Ensure efficient workflows for scheduling, insurance verification, prior authorizations, financial navigation, and reimbursement functions.
Serve as the operational expert for complex insurance authorization processes and payer requirements.
Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, patient access, and financial performance.
Partner closely with nursing leadership, physicians, and multidisciplinary teams to support exceptional patient care.
Assist with workforce planning, recruitment, onboarding, and team development as the oncology program continues to grow.
Monitor operational metrics, productivity, quality, and patient satisfaction while implementing process improvements.
Support organizational initiatives and help prepare for continued expansion, including the future Cape Coral Cancer Center.

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate will bring:

Proven healthcare leadership experience managing teams within a physician practice, outpatient clinic, hospital, or specialty healthcare setting.
Extensive knowledge of prior authorizations, insurance requirements, payer guidelines, and reimbursement workflows.
Strong understanding of insurance coverage and financial clearance processes.
Experience leading and developing high-performing teams.
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with physicians, nursing leaders, and administrative leadership.
Experience supporting multiple clinic locations is preferred.
Scheduling experience is preferred.
Knowledge of medical billing and coding is beneficial but not required.

This position manages the patient experience at assigned practice(s). Responsible for overall effective performance of practice including management of staff, workflow development, patient schedule management, provider and staff engagement, patient experience, financial performance and billing compliance. Develops practice operational plans and budgets (capital and operations) and implements performance improvement strategies within the practice. This position is responsible for the recruitment, development and supervision of staff. Ability to apply effective communication strategies to solve and facilitate simple and complex situations which enhance the culture and performance of the practice. Performs all duties in a manner which promotes teamwork and reflects the mission and values of Lee Health. Responsible for practices with 4 to 10 full-time providers. May supervise up to two locations.

Requirements

Education: Associate degree in management or related field required, or a combination of education and management experience may be considered in lieu of degree. Bachelors degree and or ACMPE (American College of Medical Practice Executives) certification preferred.

Experience: A minimum of 2 years healthcare leadership experience required. Physician office experience preferred. Experience with creating budgets and communicating financial information to staff and providers required. Knowledge of ambulatory care operations and a background in clinic procedures including schedule management, patient registration, use of electronic health record, patient flow, billing and referrals and authorizations.

Other: Computer proficiency including word-processing and spreadsheet applications and knowledge of electronic health record and billing software applications. Excellent written and oral communications skills including superb interpersonal skills and be able to handle difficult conversations effectively. Able to express opinions openly and honestly and provide feedback in a timely and productive manner. Ability to examine and re-engineer operations and workflows and report operational metrics to staff and providers. Flexibility to accommodate changes in workload assignments and react calmly and effectively in stressful situations. Ability to work independently and set priorities under minimal supervision. Ability to work within the defined values, mission and vision of the organization.
