The Quality Engineer is responsible for coordinating quality planning activities for new programs, engineering changes, and improvements to existing programs. This position works closely with customers, suppliers, Program Management, production, and other departments to ensure that product, process, and customer requirements are achieved.
Develop and maintain Control Plans, Process Flows, FMEAs, inspection documentation, testing plans, and quality work instructions.
Coordinate PPAP activities, appearance approvals, IMDS, DVP&R, NMRs, AARs, and other required customer submissions.
Review and clarify customer and product requirements related to appearance, fit, function, performance, packaging, and testing.
Support new program launches, pre-production builds, Run at Rate activities, engineering changes, and production readiness.
Conduct process and Control Plan audits and verify compliance with established work instructions and training requirements.
Analyze quality and testing data, identify discrepancies, and coordinate corrective actions.
Review supplier submissions and communicate quality concerns to suppliers, customers, production, and Program Management.
Support customer concern investigations, root-cause analysis, problem-solving activities, and continuous improvement projects.
Develop master and boundary samples and coordinate inspector, auditor, and operator training.
Support compliance with IATF 16949, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, company procedures, and management system requirements.
Promote teamwork, customer satisfaction, and a clean and safe working environment.
Complete additional duties as assigned.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
College-level coursework, technical training, or Certified Quality Engineer certification preferred.
Minimum of three years of manufacturing quality experience.
One to three years of Quality Engineering experience preferred.
Training, knowledge, or experience with PPAP and automotive quality requirements.
Working knowledge of Control Plans, FMEAs, Process Flows, GD&T, testing, audits, and quality problem-solving tools.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word; Microsoft Access experience preferred.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated leadership in quality, productivity, teamwork, and customer satisfaction.
Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Reliable transportation and the ability to perform the essential duties of the position.
