Summary
The Packaging & Ingredients Buyer is responsible for the strategic sourcing, planning, purchasing, and inventory management of packaging materials and production ingredients to support uninterrupted manufacturing operations across Bachoco USA facilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Develop purchasing and replenishment plans based on production schedules, forecasts, and inventory levels.
- Prepare and submit purchase orders to approved vendors.
- Maintain target inventory levels while minimizing excess and obsolete inventory.
- Maintain material master data, vendor records, pricing, and purchasing documentation.
- Work with suppliers regarding pricing, quality, lead times, and delivery performance.
- Identify and implement cost savings and continuous improvement opportunities.
- Coordinate with Operations, Production, Quality, R&D, Sales, and Marketing on new products, packaging changes, ingredient substitutions, and discontinuations.
- Investigate shortages, overages, and quality issues and coordinate corrective actions.
- Support RFQs, supplier evaluations, contract negotiations, and sourcing initiatives.
- Utilize SAP/ERP and Microsoft Office to manage purchasing activities.
- Perform other duties assigned by Procurement Management.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university in business, materials management, or related field; or at least five years experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. At least one year of purchasing/buying or related experience required.
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Accounting software; Inventory software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software. Basic computer skills with Microsoft Office programs is required. SAP experience preferred.
