The Family Firm
DSWD was founded in 2009 by Partners Joseph DeMarco, John Sciaccotta, and Rick Wilkens, with a simple goal: build a firm that genuinely cares for its people and for its clients. From the beginning, the focus has been on creating a workplace that feels more like a family than a company. That same personal connection extends to their clients, who trust DSWD to always act in their best interests, well beyond the day-to-day accounting tasks.

To further their commitment to both team and client success, DSWD partnered with 119th Street Capital, a Family Office that invests in financial services firms, in 2025. This collaboration was rooted in aligned values: a shared belief that quality relationships and positive culture drive meaningful success. It also opened the door for investment in growth, elevating team members, providing resources to better serve clients, and exploring new opportunities via mergers and acquisitions.

While the Partners received investment interest from Private Equity firms, they chose a private family office for its cultural alignment and shared commitment to value-driven growth. The result is a thoughtful roadmap that prioritizes people over profit and supports sustainable expansion through talent acquisition and strategic partnerships.

About the Role:
The Senior Accountant plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the organization's financial records. This position is responsible for managing complex accounting tasks, including the preparation and analysis of financial statements, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and supporting audit processes. The Senior Accountant will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to provide insightful financial data that supports strategic decision-making. This role requires a detail-oriented professional who can identify discrepancies, implement improvements, and maintain robust internal controls. Ultimately, the Senior Accountant contributes to the financial health and transparency of the organization by delivering timely and accurate financial information.
Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Minimum of 4 years of professional accounting experience.

Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, SAP, or Oracle.

Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:

Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation.

Experience with financial reporting for publicly traded companies.

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and complex formulas.

Familiarity with tax preparation and compliance for multiple states.

Experience working in a fast-paced corporate finance environment.
Responsibilities:

Prepare, review, and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP.

Manage general ledger activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis.

Coordinate and support internal and external audit processes by providing necessary documentation and explanations.

Monitor and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations and filing requirements.

Collaborate with finance and operational teams to streamline accounting processes and improve financial reporting efficiency.

Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities by providing detailed financial insights.

Identify and implement process improvements to enhance accuracy and efficiency in accounting operations.

Mentor and provide guidance to junior accounting staff to foster professional development and maintain high-quality work standards.
Skills:
The Senior Accountant utilizes strong analytical skills daily to interpret financial data and identify trends or discrepancies that impact the organization’s financial health. Proficiency in accounting software and Excel enables efficient management of large datasets, preparation of reports, and automation of routine tasks. Communication skills are essential for collaborating with auditors, regulatory bodies, and internal teams to ensure clarity and compliance. Attention to detail is critical when reviewing financial statements and ensuring adherence to GAAP and tax regulations. Additionally, leadership and mentoring skills are applied to support and develop junior staff, fostering a productive and knowledgeable accounting team.
