Overview

Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Medicaid Billing Specialist, where your expertise will drive accurate and efficient billing processes for Medicaid and other health insurance claims. In this vital role, you’ll ensure that medical services are properly coded, documented, and billed in compliance with federal and state regulations. Your proactive approach will help streamline revenue cycles, support medical providers, and enhance patient satisfaction through precise claims management. Responsibilities

Review and process medical claims using billing software, EMR (Electronic Medical Records), and EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Apply appropriate coding such as DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group), CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding to classify diagnoses and procedures correctly.
Manage healthcare claims submissions for Medicaid, Medicare, and private insurers while adhering to all regulatory guidelines.
Conduct thorough medical record reviews to verify documentation supports billing codes and claim submissions.
Follow up on unpaid or denied claims by communicating with insurance companies, patients, and healthcare providers to resolve discrepancies.
Maintain detailed records of billing activities, medical collections, and claim statuses to ensure transparency and audit readiness.
Stay updated on changes in healthcare claims management policies, medical coding standards, and health insurance regulations to ensure ongoing compliance.

Experience

Proven experience in medical billing or coding within a healthcare setting, preferably with Medicaid or government-funded programs.
Strong knowledge of medical terminology, medical records management, and healthcare claims processing.
Familiarity with DRG classifications, CPT coding standards, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding systems, and medical coding best practices.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Word and Excel for documentation and reporting purposes.
Experience working with billing software platforms, EMR/EHR systems, and healthcare claims management tools.
Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with insurance companies, patients, and healthcare providers.
Ability to interpret complex medical records accurately while ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations related to health insurance billing.
